Actually floorboarding the accelerator 3 times within 5 seconds works for most 2000 and newer GM cars as previously noted. However there is one caveat. That is hold it to the floor for 1/4 sec before releasing it. For more information go to http://preventativeautoservice.com/ and click on oil change light reset. Select make and model. Some of these resets go back to 1992.

You could try removing the ground wire off of your battery and leave it off for at least 2 minutes before putting it back on.This should clear the light and if it doesn't then you could have a bad oil pressure sending unit.

The oil light with wrench symbol means that your car needs an oil change and quickly. However, if you believe that's an error, use the Digital Instrument Cluster located on the dash to reset it or carry out the following steps to reset it:
1. Put the key into the ignition and switch to ON position
2. Once the dash lights have turn off - fully press the accelerator and release it three times in a row within five seconds
3. Now start the car and the error should have gone away
