Audi a4 1996 model 1.8.....how do u take the radiator out to replace it

Follow the radiator hose to the end & the thermostat will be in that housing

Trace the upper radiator hose to the mounting area on the intake manifold. Loosen the hose clamp on the manifold end of the hose and remove the hose. Pull the thermostat out of the intake manifold.

I would take it off and have a radiator shop check it out. They should tell you if it's worth restoring, or needs replacing. Sounds like it needs more than a little back flushing would accomplish.

I think you would need to drain the radiator. It used to be easy on the older model cars/trucks, not to sure on the new models... best of luck to you.

There is an outside temp sensor that is mounted in the front of the car behind the radiator grille. You should see a 1 pin sensor somewhere on the top of the radiator support.

Replace the thermostat and flush the cooling system.
