I jusy purchased a 2008 honda accord with no owners manuel.The car has 19,000. miles.The oil life states its at 100%. My question is do I get an oil change?

1. Turn off the engine. Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button in the instrument panel and turn the ignition switch to run (one position before starting).
2. Hold the button for at least 10 seconds, until the indicator resets.
3. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

Resetting the Engine Oil Life Display if maintenance service is done by someone other than your dealer, reset the maintenance minder as
follows:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position.
2. Press the select/reset knob repeatedly until the engine oil life is displayed.
3. Press the select/reset knob for about 10 seconds. The engine oil life and the maintenance item code(s) will blink.
4. Press the select/reset knob for another 5 seconds. The maintenance item code(s) will disappear, and the engine oil life will reset to 100.

or reset them to 100%
They are not tied to the vehicles systems

Change your oil every 4,000 miles tops & use
Full Syn 5W-20 as it calls for (Lincoln L/S)

The Honda you Scan for codes-you already know that

Tire-Go by the label on the door jam on the driver's door
Oil-Follow the manufacturer's recommendation in the owner's manual
Maintenance-Today's cars usually come with a maintenance schedule. Follow the proper maintenance for the mileage your car currently has on it.
If that puppy has only 45,000 miles on it, the timing chain shouldn't have to be replaced until it's between 120,000 and 150,000 miles.

1. turn ignition to ON (II) position 2. press the select/reset knob on dashboard repeatedly until the engine oil life indicator is displayed. 3. press and hold select/reset knob until the display starts to blink ( about 10 seconds) then release knob. 4. press and hold knob again until maintenance code goes off and oil life indicator resets and shows 100% (about 5 seconds) , then it is reset . TURN KEY OFF !! STEVE

It means it's time for service---- to change engine oil -- check air filter and various maintence stuff--- if you have the owners manual it will show you what service to perfoam and to log it in the service book.
Also has intructions in the owners manual as to how to reset the service warning light-- kind of tricky but once you get it it's pretty simple.

HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE OIL LIFE % ON MY 2009 CRV ?

Honda Accord 1998-09 To reset MAINT REQ’D light, press and hold select/reset button on right side of instrument panel. Turn ignition on and hold until the light goes out.

On the right of your dash is a pair of buttons, one for selecting/changing the odometer and the other for cycling from MPH to KMH and back.
Turn the key on.
Push the select button until your display indicated the remaining oil life percentage. When it is displayed press and HOLD the select button until it begins to flash. Once it starts flashing release the button and press and hold it again. The display will clear and if you release the button and cycle through the display with the select button you will see oil life 100%. Good luck and this should reset the oil life.

To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change
(approximately 7,500 miles [12,000 km] or six months) perform the
following:
1. Press and release the
SELECT/RESET button to display
“OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET =
NEW”.
2. Press and hold the
SELECT/RESET button for two
seconds and release. Oil life is set to
100% and “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%”
is displayed.
Note: To change oil life 100% miles value from 7,500 miles (12,000 km)
or six months to another value, proceed to Step 3.
3. Once “OIL LIFE SET TO XXX%” is displayed, release and press the
SELECT/RESET button to change the oil life start value. Each release
and press will reduce the value by 10%.

It means they didn't reset the oil change light. It means it's 17 miles past due and counting.
To reset, hold down the reset button for about ten seconds until everything in the display starts flashing.
Then while it's still flashing, hold down the reset button again for ten more seconds until the oil life says 100%.

Then, your all done. :)
