1997 olds lss 3.8( not supercharged)

Having what i think is torque converter trouble,in overdrive the car shutters ,like it is going in and out of gear ,let off it is fine ,give it fuel it is fine .been told torque converter clutch is bad . no trouble codes.need more info email me .thanks lee [email protected]

This problem will cause car to stall either in gear and not moving and coming up to stop.To fix side cover of trans will need to be removed and new sensor put in for lock up torq converter..Hope this helps you And Have A Great day

the proper fuel preasure should be at least bettween 48 and 55 psi. hope this helps.

If it does it only at highway speeds...over 40 mph or so....you could have a lock up torque converter issue. (This locks up electrically for overdrive) Dissable the overdrive and see if it will go away. (drive it in 3rd, if you have a 4 speed) (Or tap the brake, this will dissable it also)

If you can take it to someplace and have the computer scanned for trouble codes, it should indicate where the problem is. I'm pretty sure it's the torque converter solenoid, but I will do some research and get back with you.

if it has overdrive transmission the torque convertor has a vein broke inside causing shudder replace torque convertor.
the torque conver does the overdrive when it hits a certain rpm it upshifts to overdrive in torque convertor.
with vein broke it hrows it out of balance causing it to shudder and possibly slip.

i think you answered your own question.. torque converter clutch or overdrive solenoid. also your overdrive band could be a little worn and about ready to **** the bed for good but i'd check the other things. if you had transmission work done on it before when they put the torque converter on maybe it didn't get re-seated properly. push and turn it will click do it 2 more times clicking a total of 3 times

1997 cavalier/tranny shifts in and out of overdrive

It is likely you lock-up converter. Try using Lube-gard trans additive for converter shutter. I know O'reilly's has it.
