Sounds to be a exhaust manifold leak. Hav been a mechanic now for about ten years and have seen this cause this issue before. Check it out shoud be your issue. Not something i would adive doing in your drive way unless you have a decent amount of mechanical inclination.
Hi:) When a engine is cold the oil is thick as a engine warms up the oil get thinner so if you have a lifter or a rocker that is warren out and ticking it will make a noise louder hot then when it's cold. When the oil is cold it acts like a cussion and deaden the sound.
Engine is old ? Cold be wrong oil, wrong or bad fue, some idle speed settings isnt right.
If it goes tick, tick, tick, you might be low on oil or your lifters may be pecking. It is usually a sign of low oil or engine damage in the block. Check your fluid first. It may be a quart or two low. If not, it will need fixed eventually. That is up to you.
