The main factor on starters failing is heat. is there a heat shield between the starter and exhaust manifold or was there one? Also incorrect shims on the starter may do this too. if there was a starter shim. be sure to check the paperwork with the new starter to see if you need to use it. if it doesn't say anything about not using it, keep it in there.

My sons 99 Neon recently quit running. He said it started but when he put it in drive to pull away, it went backwards then died. Then nothing, the starter wouldnt crank at all. I replaced the starter and...

. I would check the shifter cable. If it broke in reverse while you're son was putting it in drive that would cause it to remain in reverse . Being stuck in reverse would also cause it not to start because it's in gear.

Nissan Altama Starter Relay electrical problems or a fuse?

Double check the battery positive connection wiring carefully as it commonly has connection problems when the battery is changed.

I have changed my alternator four times and it just went out again so this will be the fifth time. i have a new battery also. could there be a different problem causing the alternator to keep going bad?

A) check if the signal to the from pcm(computer) to micro procesor inside the rectifier is on and off if on all the times it will set a too hi output level and alternator will be damage B) from alternator to battery there is a fuse link is it still there? check c) before the electricity reach alternator from the battery first goes to the starter > is the wire from alternator to starter attached to the correct bolt at the starter solenoid ? check one of the big bolt at the starter has positive all the times and the other big bolt only at the moment you energyse the starter and send positive from solenoid to the core of starter if the alternator-starter wire is at the wrong bolt starter damage and fuse link damage is the result

My 2002 Neon just had starter replaced now when it starts it revs up very high and then dies down to a very irregular idle, if I touch the throttle it will immediately rev up again, I have been told that...

some thing is wrong, it sounds like they may have left a vacuum line loose or forgot to hook one up, i have done a few of these and the starter is under the intake and things have to be removed, maybe a gasket is no good from removing throtlebody, but something is wrong, also how was the car running before the starter went bad? was the car sitting for four months and then the starter was done or were you driving it often and the starter went bad? a bad o2 sensor would not cause this problem and if its that weak the engine light should of come on, something is not right i would take it to another shop and let them check it and if its due to the starter job then give the bill to them. good luck.

No Start, car turns over but won't start. Checked spark, and all four wires are delivering spark. Replaced worn plugs, still no start. Has to be a fuel problem. Car was running fine, parked went to start...

may be fuel or timing.

If you also replaced the starter selonoid (bendex) when you replaced the starter I would guess the ignition module. Note* If you purchased a rebuilt starter you might have received a bad one. This happens with rebuilt starters from time to time.
