My GMC fuel gage is opposite it show half full and it is empty??

  • IHATEMYJIMMY Mar 21, 2009

My fuel gauge jumps. I'll put like 20 bucks in and it'll go to 3 quarter tank or wherever. Then if I'm on a hill or something or just driving, it'll go down to E and the light comes on then it'll jump back up to 3Q tank or up to 1/2 tank.

If your lucky, it's the wire harness from the frame to the gas tank. If your not lucky, it's the sending unit in the gas tank and that's expensive.

How to fix P0462 code on Nissan Maxima?

Did you ask auto zone they usually tell you what's wrong otherwise go to the dealer. As far as your fuel gage it may be the cause of all your problems as they are part of your fuel pump that's in your gas tank it should be able to be reaches either under your back seat or in your trunk.

How big of gas tank is on it. {gallon wise}. And the gage shows full when you fill it up then after you have about 2-4 gallons left it drops to below the yellow line. Light comes on. Why.

ok im trying to be a mind reader now!!! what car is it????
i can tell you why the light come's on,,,its to tell you you need to fill up with gass again? in the uk we call that light the "**** he*d's light" as people dont see it then they run out of gass! stupid "A" if you realy need to know how many galls it takes just fill it up when the light comes on,,not after you have ran out of gass!

How much longer do i have before the car stops when the fuel gage hits E.

Put an empty gas can in your car (2 gallon or more).
Next time you are just on E,
1) stop by a gas station and fill up the gas can (not your car).
2) Record your milage.
3) Drive around until you run out of gas.
4) record your milage again and calculate distance driven.
5) write the number somewhere in your car for future reference.

6) Fill up your car from the gas can (carefully).
Take the empty can out of your car as soon as possible.

My chevy uplander 2007 ran out of gas. I have

Since the Uplanders have the long (front to back) skinny gas tank, with the outlet to the rear; if you run out of gas with the front/nose inclined lower than the rear, then it can take upwards of 5 to 8 gallons to get it started again. It was written up in a GM TSB. Two gallons won't start it. When the gage reads less than 1/2, it's not a good idea to park with the front lower than the rear...unless you carry a full 5 gal. refill. Thank you GM engineering.

1998 jeep wrangler se gas gage

Most gauges are set up this way to give you a bit of "margin" between "e" and stuck on the road.Sometimes this is set a bit too high but adjusting it is not worth the $. Additionally, there is generally about a gallon of fuel remaining in tank that the pump cannot reach. This protects you against most heavy debris (rust etc) and water that acumulates there (even in the most well maintained vehicles) which would otherwise easily enter the fuel system. As long as you are not running out at 1/4 tank or anything, you are OK.

Fuel level sensor in tank bad????

Yes it is all one unit, and yes that is what the problem is. don't use aftermarket parts, use OEM, (Delco Remy) they are much better quality.
