Many models list this code on the production list of options on the cover plate to the spare tire/wheel...As a last resort, you can contact Ford, as the new owner and request the code directly from Ford...Most Ford Dealers are helpful to retrieve this also...you can check your system by pressing #8 then #9 on your door keypad, and this automatically locks all your doors. check the inside cover to your owners manual, it should be there. if not then go to ford dealer in your area and they will be able to bring it up on your vin number

I do not know the solution. However, I experienced the same problem on a rental in Hawaii (4 cylinder 2010 Fusion) as I was attempting to pull out onto a busy highway. Also occurred several other times.
In my opinion, it is a transmission defect and a safety issue. The car had less than 8000 miles on the odometer. Return it to Ford.

if you do not already know the factory code, the only way it can be obtained is by your local ford dealer. the proprietary computer equiptment they have can access the code that is programed in vehicles security module. if you purchased it used..it is often that the keyless entry code id card is still withe the owners manual..it is a 5 digit code printed on an credit card sized card that is white in color..i hope this helps you...good luck
