Your trunk leak most likely is rubber seal that runs the perimeter of trunk when trunk lid is open. Leak on pass floor can be a combination of things. Heater core or if car has sunroof, there is drains that run down windshield posts. Carpet will be wet and sticky if heater core is leaking (not to mention coolant level low) If it's sunroof drain, car has to be put on a lift and drains blown out with compressed air.
I just fixed a serious water leak on the same car! it turned out to be the tail lamp assembly wiring harness at the pass thru was not seated properly. it fill spare tire area, then sloshed under back seat then under carpet. needed to remove all carpet to dry out! good luck!
I have two 1998 Pontiac Grand Prixs, and had major water leaking into passenger side floor on both of them. Through web search, I found a common problem that causes this. There is a rubber strip approximately 18 inches long that mounts on the base of the windshield on passenger side to divert water coming off the windshield around the fresh air intake hole. The A/C blower moter squirrel cage is mounted in that fresh air intake hole, and it is common for the water leaking into the hole to short out the motor (happened on one of my cars). The strip has metal in it and is designed to crimp onto the base of the windshield, but it is common for it to dislodge through vibration or accidently when working in the area. I simply removed the rubber strip, tightened the crimp joint with pliers, and re-installed with weatherstrip adhesive. Fixed leak on both my cars. You have to remove the plastic fairing at the base of the windshield to access the rubber strip.
