Could be worn valve guides or valve stem seals, you will see smoke on startup and sometimes on decel going downhill. Could also be injectors that are too large for your engine (rare).

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

How long has it been since the injectors and block replacement? I strongly suggest that you spray the tail pipe with water and soap to take the oil residue out. Once the oil is cleared the smoke can be lessen although the smoke is just normal for it's on the break in period.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Testimonial: "thanks 4 the tip, it did make the smoking less."

What color is the smoke? White smoke would bee coolant leaking into the exhaust sign of internal coolant leak. White -blueish tinted smoke it the sign of an oil leak. Black smoke is the sign of too much fuel getting to engine. If the injectors were just replaced you may have one with a bad seal or it is not seated correctly.

05 kia sorento ex see white smoke burning but not out exhaust and I cant seem to pin point location or what the smell is.

hi
White smoke is burning engine oil.
mostly when Engine oil is changed or topped up
little oil get dropped and when engine heats up. it burns the oil.
but once oil is burnt then no more smoke is there.

unless you have a leak

My 2004 Diesel Kia Sorento takes 18 seconds to cold start. OK when hot. I have changed glow plugs and checked them. Injectors seem to get to pressure. Computer shows no errors. Battery is new and turn

is the air intake clear , new filter nothing squashing the intake pipe, how long does it take for the glow plug light to go out once you've turned ignition on ?

Why is my Kia sorento starting to blow out black smoke.? I have had no loss of power

Black smoke means you have too much diesel in the mix that is being ignited. This can be because either too little air is getting in or too much fuel is going in. First step (easy and cheap) is replace the air filter. If there's still smoke check the erg valve is clean and moves easy. If it's still there after that then check the common rail injectors for leakage.

were the injectors the same as the OE? the wrong injectors can create running issues. also check for vaccum leaks from the replacement if the injectors.

are you sure its diesel first , you could have injectors problem pump timing air filter plugged but it sounds like running rich so i would go to fuel problem plugs , injectors, timing as well check engine is it on

I just purchased a used kia and it started smoking

if this is a diesel kia then smoking is not a very bad sign. diesels tend to smoke when the diesel injectors are clogged up. this can happen with very poor dirty diesel fuel. take the kia in to a good mechanic. not the agents or kia cause they are going to rip you off. or there is a solvent you can buy at a carparts&accessories that can unclog. just ask for assistance. a diesel starts smoking when the diesel injectors are clogging up. good luck.

2009 Kia Sorento. When starting smoke pours out the exhaust

Should still be under warranty at that age - ask the garage to try known good injectors from a donor car

Trouble starting kia sorento 2003

pull the injectors for a recondition and pressure set
have it done by an accredited diesel specialist shop
make sure that the battery is fully operational as it needs to crank fast to start easy
