Yes it will as long as it is the same model transmission. As long as you get a transmission out of a standard cab truck you should be ok. ( for a good idea Most 88-98 gm trucks, full size blazers, jimmys, tahoes, and yukons will interchange) same chassis just different bodys and emblems

You are WRONG! If you can't give HONEST advise, then don't give any. FACT: 1996 and 1997 Chevy Tahoes have a totally different transmission in them, and will ONLY accept the 4L60E transmission from a 1996 and 1997 Tahoe!

FYI: the 1996 and 1997 Chevy Tahoe have the 4L60E tranny in them, but because of GM, you can ONLY use the 4L60E transmission from a 1996 and 1997 Tahoe, in a 1997 Tahoe. Good Luck if you haven't found one as of yet, as I'm in the same boat. I just posted my 1997 Tahoe on CL. for $1500 with no forward gears. If anyone in the NW WI. area has a good cheap tranny for my Tahoe, let me know. I'm located in the Grantsburg, WI. area. I'd love to keep the truck, but just can't see paying $700 for a used transmission for a 1997 truck. Contact: [email protected]

Will a transmission from a1998 Chevy Suburban 4x4 fit a 1997 Chevy 4x4 1500?

Check the trans serial/ model numbers to get better info. The only changes could be the gearing ratio's for different models. Go online to one of the bigger 4X4 owners forums and see if its answered there.

Will the transmission from a 1998 chevy 1500 fit in my 2001 chevy 1500

The transmission in question is called, "4L60E" There are two versions. The 4L60E ran from 1992-1997. Then the 4L60E was updated and ran that version from (1996-2010). In 2002 GM introduced the 4L65E. So YES you should not have a problem fitting a 1998 chevy 1500 with a 4L60E into a 2001 Chevy 1500 with a 4L60E. You didn't mention that both were 2wd or 4wd. You can not convert a 2wd into a 4wd. I hope that helps, good luck.

Will a meyer unifit plow bracket off a 1999 chevy 1500 4x4 pickup truck fit on a 2000 chevy tahoe z71?

It should fit. You might have to notch some holes in the bumper cover but it should line up with the frame.

Is it true that in a 1996 chevy tahoe 4x4 u can't convert the transmission with another year model like the rest of the1997s. The dealer told me with the 96 4x4 has to be replace with another 96. but 97...

The key distinction of the Later 4L60-E (1997-2006) from the Early 4L60-E (1992-1997) or 4L60 (1990-1992) or 700R4 (1982-1989) is the six-bolt "hex" rear output or tail housing / adapter pattern. The previous versions featured a four-bolt square bolt pattern at the adapter or tail housing. This is where that made the small change and the 96/97 year was a change over year so you may have the newer housing or the older housing, but if your replacing the transfer case with the transmission your good to go, the electronics are the same. Just the body housing is different. Good luck and hope this helps. And why wold you want to convert the transmission, there are lots of easy simple up grades with out dropping the transmission or valve body.

I want to switch transmissions

If they are both 4L60Es' then yes. I know the 96 1500 does but you didn't state what size the 97 is. And are they both 4X4?

Transmission swap

yup, the motor and drive train are the same... if the wheel base is the same between the two trucks, than you can also use the drive shaft from it too

Will a 4l60e tranny from 1994

i do believe they are different transmissions. i know my '95 chevy pickup 5.7 is a one year only transmission for correct fit. best thing to do is call local junkyard. they have great interchange guides and could tell you if it will work and what things may need to be changed
