Starter "clicks" but will not start.. Had starter tested, it's fine

if the starter just clicks then test for proper voltage on the big wire it should have 12.0 volts on it. no sound then have someone hold key in start position and tap the starter with a hammer if it cranks then replace starter

Pull the upper timing belt cover, just some 8mm bolts, and verify the if the engine is turning or not. If the timing belt breaks it will sound like the engine is spinning faster with the starter than normal. The great thing is that these engines are non interference and will not suffer valve damage if the belt breaks. If the engine is not turning with the starter then you have a bad solenoid in the starter and it will have to be replaced. You can check my profile for information on how to do the timing belt yourself if it comes to that.

the belt tensioner should maintain the tension if not it needs replacement.if it's slipping you may have a locked pulley.

its the starter relay,not the starter that clicks,change the relay.....

The accessory drive belt for 2.0L engines has no provision for manual belt adjustment, since these engines use an automatic belt tensioner. Drive belt slack is taken up by the automatic tensioner.
Movement of the automatic tensioner assembly during engine operation is not a sign of a malfunctioning tensioner. This movement is the tensioner self-adjusting and is required to maintain constant belt tension.
The belt tensioner has a belt length indicator. If the indicator marks are not between the MIN and MAX marks, the belt must be replaced.
