You have to have power to remove the key. There is a cable to the shifter that is hold the key from turning completely off. Put some pwoer to it and it will release.
There is a button on the bottom side of the steering column to release the key. Need to check out the ignition interlock solenoid to make sure it's getting power to release the key.
There is no key release on that vehicle. The key should come right out. Has the key being bent or twisted before? Also make sure steering wheel is not turned all the way to one side or the other.
sounds like key cylinder getting stuck.happens after a lot of rabbit starting.parts inside the cylinder(chambers) tend to stick out and keep the key stuck in and doesnt release.also mechanic inside cylinder might be worn down or broken causing the key not to turn back all the way on ignition rod or switch.sollution replace key cylinder first.it should fix you problem.but if it doesnt shut of prob is also the ignition switch.located connected on steering colum lower right side.hope that helps.let me know how it goes.
Hello, try and turn the ignition slowly like you are going to start the
engine. There is a very small "dead" space where you will see your gauge lights go off.
What you want to do is cycle the ignition
switch from off to that dead space. Each time you do it your stuck
speedometer will move towards zero about 10 mph. So if its stuck on 40
you will have to cycle it at least 4 times.
At first you will probably actually hit the ignition and the engine will try to start.....just release it and try it again.
There is a small 1/4'' oblong cover plate on the underside of the stearing column. Pop this out and there is a button you push in ( like the Crysler key relase) and this will allow you to remove the key.
