There is a sensor for both of them. I am not quite sure if they are related, on the same fuse. You can check the fuse box and see though. Sometimes the sending unit will get stuck or become defective and it will keep the light on, even if it is reset. They might be on the same circuit but I am not 100% sure. But, as far as the oil light, for it to go off, you will have to check it out. It is either loose, stuck, or bad.

Why the change engine oil light keep coming on when i start my 2005 buick rendezvous? how can i turn it off?

Did you have the oil changed lately ?
Oil Life Left
Oil life left percentage is based on the information the DIC receives from a class 2 message from the PCM. The DIC displays the current percentage of the GM Oil Life System. When the oil needs changing the change engine oil indicator in the message center turns ON. When the engine oil is changed, reset the oil life left. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.

GM Oil Life System Resetting
When the system has calculated that oil life has been diminished, it will indicate that an oil change is necessary. A CHANGE ENGINE OIL message will come on. Change the engine oil as soon as possible within the next 600 miles (1 000 km). It is possible that, if driving under the best conditions, the oil life system may not indicate that an oil change is necessary for over a year. However, the engine oil and filter must be changed at least once a year and at this time the system must be reset.
If the system is ever reset accidentally, change the engine oil at 3,000 miles (5 000 km) since last oil change.
How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
If the vehicle does not have optional Driver Information Center (DIC) , do the following:
Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine off.
Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.
Turn the key to OFF. If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start the vehicle, the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
If the vehicle has the optional DIC, do the following:
Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine off.
Press the MODE button until the DIC reads OIL LIFE LEFT/HOLD SET TO RESET.
Press and hold the SET button until 100 percent is displayed. You will hear three chimes and the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message will go off.
Turn the key to OFF.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start the vehicle the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

Change oil still showing after oil and filter is changed

In Ford Taurus X, after an oil change, the oil life indicator can be reset to 100% by holding the reset (system check) button. It will prompt you whether you want to reset to 100%. Set it and it will come back to 100%. This step takes hardly 10 seconds.

1997 ford expedition oil pressure guage is fluctuating, but not all the time

Usually the oil sending sensor will go bad on this vehicle. I have changed mine , which jumped up and down but not all the time. It cost about $25 and 5-10 min of time. It's located right at the oil filter. Just be sure you don't have a major problem internal, but the expedition is known for the oil sensor to go out. The sensor usually is worst in the winter detecting the oil pressure.

The change oil message came on.I changed the oil and reset the message center, but the message comes back when I start the vehicle up.Is there another way to reset it to keep it off until the next oil...

On the console, where the oil change light is on, scroll through the items until you get to oil life. Once at oil life, hold the reset button and it will say Engin oil new? Press reset again and this should set you oil life back to 100% without needing to disconnect your battery

Change oil light stays on

Using the black push button/rod, you know the one where you can switch to see trip A trip B etc?
keep pushing it til you get to the check engine part then it will cycle through several things. when you find the right place it will read "if new oil hold reset" at this point just hold reset. That is the black push button/rod.

If this don't work, try it again, sometimes it may miss...
