Hi and welcome to FixYa!
The fuel pump relay regulates the power given to the fuel pump. If the fuel pump relay is faulty there will be no power to the fuel pump and will result to fuel supply failure. These relays just like the others serves as regulators so that the battery will not fail during electrical loads.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
Fuel pump relay works off power supplied from ignition switch to fuel pump but has separate lead (ground) that runs off oil pressure switch (safety) If your vehicle would roll-over, be involved in an accident or your engine would lose oil pressure it shuts down fuel pump.

Try the crankshaft position sensor. Sometimes they get covered in clutch dust and the sensor cannot determine No1 cyl. and then it will refuse to start. Sometimes they go faulty as well.

Did you install a new pump? Used pumps may be cheaper but not if you have to change them.

My 88 ramvan did the same thing and it was the pickup sensor in the distributor. I replaced it and everything was fine. If the sensor is bad it won't let the fuel pump run or the ignition funtion.

Check for a blown fuse, also, the oil pressure switch has a cut off for the fuel pump, and if the oil sending unit is bad,or the oil pressure has dropped, the fuel pump will not come on,
