If you get an ABS (anti lock brake system) light on as well, you probably have a bad front wheel bearing (the ABS wheel speed sensor is built-in). Check the harnesses going to the sensors first, they may be damaged from turning. If no ABS light accompanying the Stabilitrak message, then you will need to get it scanned for a diagnostic code to further evaluate.
I took my 2007 model to dealer because the ABS and Service Traction Control/ Stabilitrak light came on. They said that the sensor is bad and needed to be replaced. While my vehicle was in the shop, they also found that my front passenger side wheel bearing hub was worn out. They said that is was a good thing that those lights came on because I would have never even knew that I had the wheel bearing hub problem. (I noticed a loud noise but thought it was from the new tires that I had got a couple months prior). They said that my wheel could have locked up or fell off causing a terrible accident. The wheel bearing hub cost me $117 for labor, the parts were covered under the powertrain warranty. The sensor was $80 for parts and labor. Now my vehicle is so quite and no lights on.
