When was last healthy tune up, including fuel filter replacement and a good fuel system cleaning? I would start there especially considering fluctuating temps and quality of fuels these days.

I have had the same problem for about 18 months, the only way i have found to get it started is to go back to basics, disconnect the battery then reconnect, lock and unlock the door 2 or 3 times using the key. mine always start up after doing this. just like rebooting a computor, that's what runs your car is it not?. do'nt ask me why it works but it dose. by the way mine is a '55 reg should be the same kit as yours. good luck, let us all know if it works for you please.

Take it back to the shop...where you got the alarm installed, and if it's factory, take it to the dealer..Your sensbilty sensor is too high..they need to turn it down...
This same problem just started happening to mine too. My mechanic cannot find the issue. I have to get my catyltic converter replaced this week and am not happy about it.
Just bought the car last Spring.
How long have you had yours?

90% of the Time..Code 1171 is an 02 sensor. Other 5% Is a Mass Airflow Sensor.. And Last .. Fuel Pump.. If engine seems to run fine.. its an O2 sensor.. Thank you
Unfortunately the only way to reset that light is with a computer scanner. Autozone usually gives free diagnostics but I don't think they can turn off your light. Sounds like you need to have someone put a smoke machine on your vehicle to find the leak in your evap system. Hope this helps.
I had the same issues with my 2004 C70 and it almost drove me to distraction. It would get up to about 1500 revs and then cut out. Then when I tried to re-start it it refused to start up at all. As with your car, sometimes it was just fine and others it could take half and hour before I could get it to start again. It turned out there were 2 problems. The first problem was fixed by a new rev sensor and the second by a new antenna ring. It's been fine for the last month. Volvo are aware and my excellent local dealer charged just £182 for a complete fix.
