First I would check connections at the light itself, you might have jossled something loose on high beam. Next would be to check all fuses - visually pull and inspect. If all that looks good then I would consider replacing dimmer switch (lever that flips between hi/lo beams)
Most likely a faulty bulb or a loose connection

SOURCE: 1994 Mercedes c280 high beams not working...
At first 1994 C280 high beams began to not connect regularly when stick pushed forward, then not at all. Drove high beams by pulling and holding stick back towards steering wheel until that stopped working, too. Shop said the turn signal switch was at fault-- had seen it many times before with W202; about $160 to replace. Haven't done it yet, but should be an easy fix?

Hi. i recommend a thorough inspection of the wiring harness and harness connectors that led to the actual headlights. use a volt meter to test the current flow to the connectors. pull the connectors from the back side of the headlights and test all cooper contacts inside the connectors. If the wire contacts all show voltage, this will confirm a switch malfunction. it should be replaced in this case.
Now, if one or more contacts on the wires harness fail to produce any voltage, this will confirm a faulty wiring harness. replace the wiring harness in this case.
Make sure the headlight switch is in the on position when testing the wires.

$35 sounds right for the lever. It definitely sounds like it's your lever acting up as the contact seems to be stuck

replace low beam bulbs, you tend to use these more than high beams and it is not uncommon for them to quit a same time. It happened on my camaro and on a friends trans am. I bought a 50.00 headlight switch only to find out it was both low beam headlights, which on a 1997 camaro is another 50.00 (25.00 each). I would try that before taking dah apart. Added note, at first I had ruled out the headlamp being bad, because i had just replaced one of them 3 months before this happened. I pulled in the driveway they worked, when I was ready to leave I only had high beam, but problem was solved with 2 new headlights.
