The side and rear interior windows of my 2010 yaris are constantly frosted up even with the heater & defrost system at full blast. I know that it is cold here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada but these windows should not be frosting up this badly. This is a driving hazard. I don't see other cars with this problem when in traffic!! The Dealer says the heating system is working properly but i wonder if the inside air is not being allowed to exit the cabin for some reason in which case would cause the frost buildup. Thanks for your help.

Possible the smell is coming from the bacteria living on your ac evapourator. You can buy a spray for this that you set off inside the vehicle. Follow the instructions on the tin.

SOURCE: Rear Window, Rear Defrost stopped working

My 1999 Toyota 4 Runner had similar problems. The yellow wire and blue wire that the previous person posted, were broken on my 4Runner. These wires exit from the vehicle at the top of the back door on the 4Runner. And then, go through a rubber hose to the actual rear door of the 4Runner. My yellow and blue wires were broken right at the location where the wires exit the vehicle. I removed the rubber sleeve on the wire harness between the back door and the vehicle and found the broken wires. I sodered the wires and taped them up. All my problems were resolved. The wiring harness is easy to remove both at the vehicle and the back door. This is where you should inspect these wires.

Before you flush the heater core. I would check your thermostat first. Does your temp gadge goes up or stay the same while driving? if it does it's your thermostat.

I have a 2007 dodge magnum with limo tint windows! My side windows don't defrost however the windshield and rear window defrost just fine and my heater works great!

Your windshield and rear window has defrost outlets that exhaust right onto your front and rear window glass. Your side glass probably doesn't enjoy this luxury.

I have a 2002 Dodge Caravan and most of the front window and all the side windows will not defrost. They even get frost build up on them. The engine warms up fine and the defrost blows hot air fine also....

Crack a rear window about 1/4 inch. This will draw air through the car and keep your windows frost free. I learned this trick from my father in the 1950's.

Thanks for your visit today.

My cars windows stay fogged up even with the heater on full blast?? Whats the problem??

Hi,
It means your defroster does not emit hot air through that area.
Check that first and tell us if that is true and we'll be happy to guide you to fix it!

Rear defoster test good does not work

Amazing that they can get away with charging that much for what should take under ten minutes to do!
If the heating grid is intact (checked with an ohmeter or continuity tester) and there is power at the grid connections, with a good ground, there is no reason that it should not work. What you did not mention is if left on and standing if the frost ever melts if given more time. (voltage may be present but may be low) The grid needs full battery voltage to operate correctly! If you have a volt meter available you can easily check it yourself.

Rear defogger/defroster is out in my 2007

The 30 amp fusible link located in the drivers side junction block controls power to the rear defoger. It is larger than a regular fuse it is pink and has a clear top.
The easiest thing to check first is just touch the terminal on the rear glass with a 12 volt test light or a DVOM to see if you have power.

AC rund at full blast even while turned off.

You need a blower motor resistor. This will take care of the problem. It is located behind the glove box. Pull it down, and you will see a plug going into the heater box. Two screws, and that is it.

Passenger side fan stays on

If the heater blower motor resistor failed then the heater will stay on full blast to keep your window clear, for safety. If the key is turned off and the fan still blows then I suspect you have an ignition switch problem. Main power comes from the key switch to feed the heater system. The plug at the ignition switch could be melted and making contact or an internal switch problem. The switch is located on the steering column under the plastic cover.Unplubbing the switch should help diagnos the problem.

2001 Sienna rear window defogger doesn't work

There are 3 fuses that control the rear defogger, and 1 relay

The fuses are: 10 amp HEATER, 10 amp MIRROR-HEATER; under the dash
The 30 amp DEF fuse is in the fuse box under the hood
The relay is the DEFOGGER relay, which is on the back side of the fuse panel under the dash

Also, check for a loose wire on the defroster grid (on the back glass), this is the most common problem.
