Question about 1998 Pontiac Bonneville

Open Question

My 1998 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 engine is having some problems, the oil pressure is usually very low and occasionally while accelerating the engine makes a gurgling noise. I initially thought the problem was with the oil pump, but after having it checked they say the oil pump is not the problem. A Pontiac dealer told me I should have the entire engine replaced, however the engine is fairly new (only about 60,000 miles on it) and I obviously don't want to make that investment. Overall, the engine runs just fine, it's just the oil pressure that is a problem. I just had the oil changed about a week ago, and the problem has only gotten worse since then. Also, I have been told that perhaps the crankshaft is to blame, but I know little behind car mechanics to be sure. Please help, any and all adivce would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

SOURCE: I have an electrical problem.

well the window and seat problem is probably a broken wire in the harness between the door and body open rubber boot and inspect and repair
the fuel i would start by checking for power at connector back by fuel tank you should have power with key on for about 10 seconds then turn key off and wait for a few seconds and try if you have power it is probably the fuel pump

SOURCE: Audi power steering pump location

Before you replace the pump, check the filter located inside the oil tank. This filter cleans the oil before going to pump. REMEMBER that Audi uses a special oil!!! Not your normal power steering fluid! Mixing them could cause damage to the entire system!

SOURCE: bad 3800

Yes you just have to swap all the brackets, and poss oil pan and oil pump, and poss intake, which i would do before installing motor due to the fact they are known to leak oil into the coolant.(the ihtake gaskets).

What should be oil pressure on 1999 Pontiac Bonneville?

I would not worry about the pressure you are seeing.
Cold oil will have a higher pressure and drop as it get warm. Also newer cars run lighter weight oil in an effort to get better gas mileage. You can run heavier weight oil if the lower pressure bothers you and as the mileage goes up on a car things wear and the pressure will drop.

Ive rebuilt the oil pump on my 98 bonneville and the oil pressure is still low and causes my motor to knock

The problem isn't with the oil pump. The oil pumps job is to move oil around the engine. What the problem is, the main and rod bearings are so worn out that it can't create oil pressure anymore. That's why you have a knock in the bottom end of the engine. The tighter the clearances are at the main/rod bearings, the better the oil pressure you'll have. The cam bearings also play a roll in producing oil pressure.

I have a 1998 pontiac bonneville se , engine 3800 (no turbo) the car idels smooth, but when you mash down on it , the car starts mising and than levels out , it also miss if you kick it the passing gea

I seriously doubt it.
The O2 sensors measure the amount of unburned fuel in the exhaust and would not be affected by water if you got them wet.
The spark plug wires and coils would be affected.

Low oil pressure indictor comes on when engine is idling and go's off when accelerating.

In normal condition, this telling you that the car has low oil level. Just check your oil deep stick when engine off at least 10 minutes to verify engine oil level. Top up oil if needed. I guess your car on low / minimum level just now.
Otherwise, your oil sensor gets malfunction.

Oil pressure rises as I accelerate the car/ put my foot on the gas. The service engine light comes on...this has never happened. Its a 93 pontiac bonneville

what does the pressure rise too? Its normal to rise somewhat. I dont think the Service Engine soon light is related to the oil gauge operation.
