Water Temperature I have a 1986 Nissan Sentra (168,000 miles) and when I start it up and begin driving within three to four miles the water temperature rises up to near H (hot) stays there for just a few seconds then gradually retreats to a normal (a little over 50%) level. Should I be concerned? It does this from a cold start only. While the car's engine stays warm the water temperature stays normal.

I wouldn't, but it sounds like the sensor may be going.

Where would the water temperaturebe sensor located on 2005 nissan sentra

I am guessing that this vehicle has a four (4) cylinder engine (looking at the engine from the front, the belts are on your left). If so, this sensor should be located in the back of the back (facing the firewall) side of the head.....most times the temperature sensor is located some where in the engine head.

2002 Nissa Sentra 1.8l Starts fine but when

How many miles on it? I had to replace my engine at 220,000. When is the last time you had a tune up? Could be a couple of things. You might get more ideas on a Nissan forum.

Leaks water? from the middle section of the engine? Not near the front, and it is water.

if it is clear, and not the color of your antifreeze, it is condensation from your Air Conditioner-shut the AC off, and drive it somewhere within a few miles, if you see no water, you fixed it :-)

My 1988 Nissan Sentra E16i will not run. The Engine turns over and may start to run but slowly begins to cough before dying. There is very old fuel in the tank but I have added a fuel stabilizer and mixed...

Water condenses in tanks not completely full & petrol degrades to "near enough" kerosine if left for too long. Also lacquer in the petrol forms a film on filters etc. So you probably have a system filled with water & lacquer now. Suggest drain tank & full flush of lines & filters.
Injectors (if fitted) may need cleaning too. It ran before all the gunk worked loose and clogged everything.

2005 nissan sentra temp gage keeps rising and falling within a few blocks. All fluids are full> HELP!

water temp sensor may need to be replaced. If there is no check engine warning, try to borrow an external water temp gauge if you would like to check it yourself.

My 2002 Nissan Sentra overheats.

Do you mix your radiator fluid and have it tested to see what it is rated for, may be too warm and need more water if you mix it yourself. I would also check the fans on the radiator, they should be turning on at about half temperature on the temperature gauge. If not, then track down why they aren't.

Heater blowing cold air

My 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8s with 55,000 mi. blows cold air from the heater. Coolant not circulating in engine. Lower hose stays cool to touch. Both heater hoses cold. Changed thermostat - didn't fix it. Coolant not leaking or dirty. None in oil - no oil in radiator. Changed worn water pump belt - pump spins freely with no noise or resistance. Cooling fans come on after warm-up. Temperature gauge stays in normal range then jumps to hot and back again. Coolant good to 10 below - didn't freeze here yet. No other problems or repairs to car. Afraid to drive and make worse. Help!
