96 accord cut offs

After reading numerous post ..I elected to replace the main relay ,and the problem still persists: Turning the key and engine whines and sputters off.I replaced the main relay and crank the car and drove it around the block..to the store etc...felt good about the fix and drove to work ..I made a turn up a slight incline and the car cut off.I did not know if it was the battery,fuel pump....I'm stuck at work

    Actually turned out to be the ingition module switch that cost 47.00 dollars from the dealer,and 150.00 to install ...it did require more effort to fix than I was willing to do.The mechanic had to take the steering wheel apart to replace module that was lodged behind the ingition switch proper. Anyway I now have a new relay (did not need) abd almost bought new fuel filter. After 350,000 miles this has been my first hic up.....

    1996 honda accord will start and immediatly shut off and the engine check light comes on.. we have not tried anything yet .. raining in ga..

Power at fuelpump relay from main relay and ignition, but no signal from computer. scanner had 5 codes but after unhook battery for a while now codes. does have a open circuit listed on fuel pump

why not post the codes. ???
usa car 96, has many codes, not one, useless or not useful.
(gas cap loose excepted)
Does all lights on car work and radio, bright head lights.?
cranks robustly, ?
spark good,? ECU cuts fuel any time one of 3 park failures, fail.?
so, spark is next.
then if spark is ok then we try test fuel. (spray )0if that fails, cam belt fell off or lost time on cam, every 60k happens.(spec)

if runs and sounds ok on test fuel, good.
crank engine for 5 full seconds, release key does the scan tool show errors. NOW? it will if those 3 spark things above, are failing.
even a dead tacho line can kill all injections.
or if TPS outputpin stuck at 5v due to ground wire to it cut,at TPS,

ok now the relay.
ECU does ground the coil (see schematic?)
but only for 3 seconds, keyon, (repeats key on).
then turns off (all G16s 91+ do that 3 sec rule.)
then the relay closes, cranking full time. look now, 96 relay is on the heater box, behind the glove box, the pink wires are BINGO FUEL.

if that works 12v on pinkk, then check fuel pressure
is car a 2 door? if 2doors, the pit behind left rear tail light
see g402 ground that is pump ground and loves to rust there.(kills pump dead)
as does the pink wires there (rust), (connectors)

Honda accord 96 cuts off when comes to a stop and will not start with engine light on

i'd have the obd codes read this will point to the switch etc that is causing the issue ,it may well be the throttle position sensor but i'd also guess at the camshaft sensor or the crankshaft sensor , with the codes you should narrow down the problem cause

Fuel cut off relay location inershaldamper location

The fuel pump is relayed by the Main Relay, on your 92 Accord. It is located up under the dash, above the driver's left foot location. Search on this site for Accord main relay diagrams and posts.

check fuse and relay in engine compartment. Relay should click when key is turned on. If no click, replace relay.

93 Honda Accord EX, engine dies but will start after 15 minutes of cool down. has done this numerous times

Replace the main engine relay under the dash board, its to the left of column. A bit hard to get too, but its do-able. Part is like 60-100 bucks at your local parts store. This part is responsible for turning on the fuel pump at startup for all of 5-15 seconds, then it switches to the second half of the relay to keep the pump running normally the rest of the time. the relay goes bad in these cars and causes these intermittent problems. Possible crank sensor/distributor issue, but that relay would be a good place to start.

96 Honda Accord, engine stalls when driving and will start after you reset key to off and back to on..I was told it was the main relay it was replaced but still having problem..

the main relay has nothing to do with that.. that would be a starting issue.... it sounds like the mechincal side of the ignition is going bad... i've seen it a bunch of times. it might need a new key cylinder usally that will need a lock smith... but your local dealer can rekey it aswell. but i'm about 95 percent that it's a mechnical ignition issue!

95 Accord starting problem

hi,i had the exact same problem,and after many frustrating months ,i found out that by changing the speed sensor relay(located on the gearbox),solved all the problems.6 months have passed and still no troubles.when the motor heats up yhe contacts in the relay expand and dont make contact,thats why if you wait a short time and it cools down a bit it starts.i hope it works for you also.
