Try your alternator check it with a volt meter to see if it is charging the battery. Check the wiring make sure there is no wires of or lose or broken.
After change alternator, the batetery light also staying on
First check if your belt is still on the alternator. if so Quickly have your alternator checked at a parts store. You only have about 30 minutes or less of driving if the alternatori is not charging. You can also verify with a volt meter on you battery while running it should be 13-14.5 volts. 12 or less is not good.
Most likely you will need an alternator. In rare cases a loose connection will cause the light to come on so check all the battery and alternator connections for clean metal to metal contact.
The battery light illumination is more than likely due to a bad alternator. With the engine running, check your battery voltage with a known good voltmeter. If the voltage is below 12 volts your alternator is not charging the battery. This is probably why your battery light is illuminated. If your voltage is 13-14 volts your alternator is good and you have a problem in the battery charging circuit
