Question about 2005 Fiat Pininfarina

Open Question

Fiat punto 1.2 8valve engine misfiring. this is an intermittant fault. Engine management light is on on the dashboard. Engine will fire on two cylinders. This can last for one day, up to three or four days and then engine will fire on all four cylinders, but engine management light still stays on. Is it an ECU problem?. If so ,how do you remove the ECU?.

  1. P0171: This means that the oxygen sensor has detected a lean air-fuel ratio. This can be caused due to a vaccuum leak or a problem in the HO2S circuit or the HO2S (Heated Oxygen Sensor) itself. (Bank one Sensor one). This is commonly located along the exhaust pipe. It could also be a bad Mass Air Flow sensor or a bad Engine Coolant Temperature sensor. Diagnostic checks will be needed to be carried out to be verified though
  2. Well as for the other codes, it means #3&4 cylinders are misfiring. It is a possibility that the P0171 code mite have caused the others to show up. I can be wrong though. But it is a strong possibility. If the air fuel mixtue is too lean indeed, mis-firing will occur, unless it is an actual electronic and not a mechnical problem. By the way, when these codes appear, how is the engine's performance. Does it remain the same or behaves poorly?

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

code p 0300 refers to random/multiple cylinder misfires detected==causes spark plug/s ---HT lead/s--injector/s--ignition coil/s-low compression --- wiring
it could be simple moisture in the distributor cap, wiring connections
It could be a problem ECM unit
monitor the condition or take it to an accredited service center that has experience on your make of vehicle and have it checked out
could be a problem that has already been identified and has a manufacturer service bulletin in place

Steering wheel fault light comes on intermittently so i switch off the engine and switch back on and its fine


Hi
there is a common fault with the PUNTO steering electric motor connector,
I suggest that you have a look at the connector at the back of the steering motor, probably is shorting a bit and cause a fault.

Torque settings on a fiat uno 1100 engine


Answer barbo(fiat mechanic) Fiat do not issue torque settings for a punto they use angles so that you can snap your stretch bolts! after contacting fiat and haynes neither of them would give proper torque settings, so i delved into my many tech manuals on fiat fire engines which is what is in your punto and i have successfully changed many fiat punto head gaskets using the following torque settings: stage 1 starting from the centre head bolts tighten to 33nm: stage 2:65nm and finally stage 3: 96nm these torque settings work fine and will probably save you buying new head bolts.

Fiat punto 2002 stutters when driven


The amber MiL light, lights on a number of problems. You need to get it sorted, you could miss a serious fault, and cause More damage. Needs to go on a code reader. From past experience with Punto's, the stutter could be a ignition coil fault (quite common) or a spark plug, both will cause the light to come on. Good Luck.

Head bolt torque settings


Torques Punto 1100 year 1995

1st round: 20 Nm
2nd round: 30 Nm
3th round: add a quarter

4th round: ad another qourter

sequence:
8 6 2 5 10
7 3 1 4 9

This is the 'Fire' engine, also placed in the Uno and Panda.

My fiat punto loses power when driving uphill


I have a 98 punto sporting nd today it started running like it was misfiring but wen i accelerate slow its fine but wen u accelerate as normal it spits and splutters :'( any suggestions??i have change fuel filter nd injectors ????

is engine turning over but not firing if so then i think that this combined with the fact you had a low battery it could have damaged the ECU but to confirm this you will have to back it to a dealer who has access to the dealer service network via the internet ,sorry to give you the bad news it may not even show any engine light fault thats readable.If all this started after a flat battery and a jump start then it could be a classic syndrome applicable to a lot of newer cars ,
