I always wonder why some mechanics just cant say they dont know.I drive a 2001 century every day with 93,000 miles on it.It developed a ticking noise at 80,000 that i diagnosed as a lifter noise.I change my own oil and I put a quart of auto trans fluid in the engine oil and drove it for a week before i changed the oil and the noise went away and stayed gone. This is a trick I learned from my dad who is also a mechanic and shop owner for 35 years.Give it a try and let me know.Good luck.

Never heard of this, what i can tell you is that there are a few of them out there that have ticking engines, we have a few customers with this problem i wouldnt worry to much about it, this can be casued by many things, something is worn like a rocker are or a bearing, we even had a customer want us to replace lifters and that didnt help and also we checked rocker arms while in the motor and found nothing, if you are worried then i would say to replace the car, dont spend money trying to fix because to repair i would say its going to need an engine rebuild, this doesnt mean that every ticking noise means engine rebuild is needed i talking about the ones ive seen and worked on, i seen a few that the noise quiets down a little after it runs a while, these cars ive worked on have been making this noise for a while like 3 years now, hope this helps.

I have a 2000 Buick century 3.1 and it has a ticking sound at one point it ticked until the car warm up a bit but now its ticking all the time what can that be

Without hearing it i'd be only guessing ,as would everybody else on here . Were is the ticking coming from , engine ? where ? Top of the engine or bottom end of the engine . How many miles on it ? The ticking could be coming from the lifters . Do you know what they are ? It would be to your benifit to have a trained ear listen to it .

You may have developed a vacuum leak that the idle air controller is trying to compensate for. Or, it could also be caused by a dirty mass air flow sensor. You need to post the engine type and the other conditions the symptoms occur. It's hard to diagnose a problem on such limited information. Conditions such as engine temperature, foot on brake, in or out of gear are extremely important factors to take into consideration when solving engine performance problems.

Loosing compression

Engine ticks are very common in these motors. But I would do a compression check and have the repairs done professionally.

Ticking noise at front of motor. I've been told it

Could be somethin with the timing chain. What engine is in your mustang? Is it OHV or OHC? If its ohv then you could have a lifter tapping.

Where is throttle located on a buick century 2001? my car is acting on its own by accelerating without having foot on gas pedal. when i put it in park it sounds like i have foot on gas pedal. i was told it...

If you follow your intake tube to the side of the motor... the right side that is there will be a little plate with 2 cables going into the top and pull it downward. This is your throttle pulley and that opens the throttle plate on the inside in the intake tube.

2000 Buick century custom only has heat when you accelerate fast but puts out cold air when you accelerate normally or at a steady speed.

Check your coolant level. Not enough fluid in the radiator to circulate when the engine is operating normally.
