Where is the fuel filter located? Not the fuel strainer that goes on the fuel pump but the filter that is in the fuel line going to the engine.

How to change 2003 kia optima sedan fuel filter

The fuel filter location varies with engine size on the Kia Optima. The 1.5-, 1.6- and 2.4-liter engines have the fuel filter located under the car in the front left corner of the fuel tank. The 1.8-liter engine has the fuel filter located on the driver's side firewall. All the filters have the same replacement procedure. There are actually two filters on the Kia Optima. A filter called a strainer is attached to the intake side of the fuel pump inside the fuel tank.

To change the filter follow this procedure:-

•Lift the hood and remove the cap on the fuse and relay box located on the driver's side fenderwell. Look at the bottom of the cap for the location of the fuel pump relay within the box. Pull the fuel pump relay out and lay it sideways in the box.

•2
Start the engine. It is not likely to start and even if it does it will only run for a second since the fuel pump relay has been removed, which disabled the fuel pump. This procedure will drop the fuel pressure in the fuel line. Raise the rear of the vehicle with the floor jack and support it by the frame with the jack stands. This is for engines 1.5, 1.6 and 2.4.

•3
Remove the fuel lines on both ends of the fuel filter. Use the scribe--a long pointy needle--to lift the white retainer straight up located in the center of the connector. This releases the fuel line from the fuel pump. Do the same to the other side of the fuel pump.

•4
Remove the bolt in the center of the fuel pump retainer bracket using a 10 mm socket. Pull the fuel pump out of the bracket.

•5
Insert the new fuel pump into the retainer bracket. Make sure that the inlet side faces the fuel line to the fuel tank and the outlet toward the fuel line to the engine. Install the fuel pump and bracket and tighten the bolt.

•6
Place a white retainer clip that came with the filter into the holes in each of the connectors. Just push it in enough to snap the bottom ends of the clip in place. The clip should now be standing straight up with just the bottom tips in the connectors. Push each of the fuel lines into the filter one at a time. Holding the fuel line tightly into the filter, push the white retainer clip down to lock the fuel filter and fuel line together. Lower the car and replace the fuel pump relay. Start the car and check for leaks.

Need to change fuel filter on 1996 Buick Regal 3.8 Where is it located on car, how do I replace and what is "strainer " and does it come w/filter?

look under car follow fuel line you will find the filter.. buy one first so you know what you are looking for. its to replace once you find it. The "strainer" is an item that keeps gtrash from getting into the electric fuel pump.. you do not usually replace the strainer unless you replace the pump it requires removing the gas tank.

Where is the fuel filter on a 2004 chrysler sebren

Like most late model Chrysler products this car doesn't have an external "IN LINE" fuel filter, the filter is a very fine mess Nylon sock that goes over the inlet of the fuel pump inside the fuel tank, it is never serviced unless the fuel pump is replaced. This has been the norm since the late 90's. You can buy the strainer separately if you still desire to replace it. See picture below and part number.

Looking for fuel filter

Your vehicle is not equiped with a fuel filter. It has a fuel strainer mounted to the fuel pump module located in the tank. Unless the strainer is considered a suspect for low fuel pressure while the fuel pump is considered ok, there is no need to replace it.

Shop manual for 2005 Santa Fe 3.5L shows a fuel pump filter in the tank & a standard cylindrical fuel filter outside the tank. Manual states change the "fuel filter" at 45000 mi. Can't find outside...

Change to Exterior filter not the tank filter. The in tank filter is actually a sock located on the Fuel Pump in the tank. This is rarely a problem. The exterior filter is going to be in-line most likely on the passenger side of the vehicle toward the rear. Easiest way to locate it is to trace the fuel lines back tot eh front of the vehicle from the fuel tank.

Where is the fuel pump and fuel filter at

The fuel pump and strainer are located inside the fuel tank.

There are three possible locations for this component due to different production dates/locations: under hood, passenger side, rear engine area, below firewall, mounted in fuel line or under vehicle, passenger side, below seating area, mounted on frame in fuel line or under vehicle, driver side, below rear seating area, mounted on frame in fuel line

Easiest method to find, follow the fuel pump lines from the tank forward, you'll find the filter.

If you change the filter, it's not a bad idea to put a little Gumout fuel injector cleaner directly into that new filter, about 1/2 full before reinstalling, that will give your injectors a quick clean. It can cause a short sputter or two but I've never seen it cause a problem and it does help clean the fuel system quickly.

You'll also want to remember to turn the key on for 3 seconds, off for 3 seconds, alternating until the fuel pressure builds before trying to start the vehicle, after repairs are made to either the pump or the filter.

Use caution when removing lines, pressure and flammable !

Good Luck

The fuel strainer attaches to the lower end of the fuel pump module. The fuel strainer is made of woven plastic. The functions of the fuel strainer are to filter contaminants and to wick fuel. The fuel strainer normally requires no maintenance. Fuel stoppage at this point indicates that the fuel tank contains an abnormal amount of sediment or contamination.

Hope help with this (remember rated and comment this help)..

Where is the fuel filter located on my 2000 300m

There is no in line fuel filter on this model. The only filter is the strainer attached to the bottom of the Fuel Pump itself inside the tank.

NO START BENZ 190D

Hello I'm an M.B. tech.. It sounds like the fuel strainer is clogged. It is a very common problem on M.B. diesel engines of that era. Diesel fuel develops algea inside the fuel tank and after a period of time it clos the strainer. The strainer is at the bottom of the fuel tank where the big fuel hose attatches to the tank. The hose unscrews frome the strainer and then the strainer unscrews from the tank. There is a filter on the strainer that can be cleaned and reinstalled. In the engine compartment there is a small primer pump that is by the fuel rack inline with the feed hose from the tank. If you turn the knob(clear or white plastic) on the pump it will retract allowing you to use it as a hand pump. If when attempting to retract hand pump it is sucked back down and will not stay retracted that means you have a restriction in the line- your fuel strainer is clogged is the most likley problem. replace both fuel filters during repair for best results. Good Luck
