The antifreeze tank is completely empty what kind of antifreeze should I use and how much do I use

If the reservoir is empty, you may want to start out by draining your radiator completely and starting over. there is a petcock valve at the bottom of the radiator. EPA Says you can't drain it onto the ground, but that's your decision. Anyway.....Buy full strength antifreeze. Take a empty gallon jug (could be a gallon milk jug so you can see more easily) and mix one half antifreeze to one half water.Take the cap off the radiator and add it it there. When it is full, put the cap back on the radiator and crank your vehicle to circulate it.Then start adding the antifreeze/ water mixture to the reservoir. As it goes down keep adding until it levels out at the normally hot line on the reservoir. As for the type of antifreeze........it's basically all the same which is Propylene glycol. CAUTION ! DON"T REMOVE THE RADIATOR CAP AFTER THE ENGINE HAS WARMED UP ! Hope this helps.

My sunfire overheats and leaks out overflow everytime i drivee it.i changed water pump, thermostat the fan is working fine and had a water pressure test done last mth

DID YOU BLEED AIR OUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM.TO BLEED COOLANT SYSTEM, FILL THE COOLANT SYSTEM THROUGH THE RESERVOIR TANK OR THE RADIATOR UNTIL THE FULL COLD MARK IS REACHED.BESURE TO USE 50/50 HALF WATER AND ANTIFREEZE.YOU CAN BUY ANTIFREEZE THAT IS ALREADY PREMIX 50/50.AFTER ADDING ANTIFREEZE TO RESERVOIR OR RADIATOR FILL RADIATOR TO FULL MARK OR IF YOU DONT HAVE RADIATOR CAP ON RADIATOR POUR ANTIFREEZE IN THE OVERFLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STAY THE FULL COLD MARK.WAIT AWHILE UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING.NOW INSTALL THE RADIATOR OR OVER FLOW JUG CAP.START THE ENGINE AND ALLOW IT TO RUN UNTIL NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE IS REACHED AND THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE BECOME HOT.STOP THE ENGINE AND OBSERVE THE COOLANT LEVEL IN THE OVERFLOW JUG. THE COOLANT LEVEL SHOULD BE AT THE FULL HOT LINE.ALLOW THE ENGINE TO COOL UNTIL THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS REACHED THEN CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL IT SHOULD BE AT OR ABOVE THE FULL COLD LINE.ADD MORE COOLANT IF NECESSARY. WARNING BECAREFUL WHEN OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP OR JUG OVER FLOW CAP.USE A LARGE RAG OVER THE RADIATOR CAP TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED.OPEN RADIATOR CAP A LITTLE AT A TIME TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED.WAIT UNTIL ENGINE COOL DOWN BEFORE OPENING RADIATOR CAP OR OVERFLOW JUG CAP.WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.

Can i mix coolant with universal coolant

Check the jug of antifreeze carefully to see if it says ALL COOLANTS. If so, your good to go.
Prestone make an ALL ENGINES coolant. You can mix this into any type coolant including the DEXCOOL GM uses.

Again....check the jug for use compatibility.

Be careful you don't buy PRE MIXED and dilute it, thinking it is pure antifreeze that needs mixing 50/50 with water.

Where do i locate the anti freeze fill tank on a 2000 dodge durango?

Under your hood are two opaque jugs. One is for the wiper fluid, the other is antifreeze reservoir. Either or both have lids which pop off or unscrew. There is generally a logo on the cap which a 6th grader could interpret as to which is which. The big give away is that the antifreeze reservoir will have a hose connecting it to the radiator and will stink of antifreeze when the lid is off. You will not be happy if you put antifreeze in the wiper jug, but you cannot do much harm the other way around.

Radiator want stay full of water or antifreeze has plastic jug on fender weld

Is there a leak somewhere? There should be green or pink fluid on the ground if there is. The plastic jug is often called the overflow this has level marks on the side of it for when the vehicle is hot and cold, cold is at the bottom end of the jug. The purpose of these marks is so you can see the levels without having to open the radiator. When the engine is cold open the radiator, start the motor and look into the radiator there should be coolant at the top of the opening. If not add coolant while engine is running, note if it's pink it's the DEX/Cool, if green any over the counter coolant will do. Add until the level hits the top of the opening. Let the engine heat up and check the level again. If it's full put cap back on and note the level in the overflow jug. If engine is hot level should be at the top mark, be sure to NOT fill the jug to the very top as it needs the space to expand for any over flow from the radiator.
The system will pull extra coolant from the jug when it's cold and use it until the proper temperature is reached then it will "spit" the extra back into the jug. (that's why there are two lines 'hot' and 'cold') Never add water to the jug as it will cause the jug to crack if the outside temperature goes below freezing always add coolant/antifreeze.
