Im not exactly sure on older fords but i know that 95 and newer fords had brake switchs that worked with the shifting so that if your brake light fuse/lights were blown it would not allow you to shift into any other gear

Did the lock pin fill one of the slots on the lock plate just under the turn signal switch? Try wiggling the steering wheel while while turning the key. That sometimes helps relieve pressure on the lock pin.

The key will not turn it is TOTALLY locked. AAA tow guy cant even move it to the shop. What can i do besides a locksmith?

have you tried pulling the steering wheel up and down while trying to turn the key?(turning left to right) you may have to shake the key in the switch while doing this the lock in the steering wheel is in an awkard posistion and needs to be jarred in order to release. hope this helps you.

there may be an idle adjustment on the idle air control valve but what happens if you come to a stop and place trans in neutral before complete stop ???

point is that you could be looking at just an adjustment or possible internal transmission problem

Car is in park wheel & key wont turn

Your anti-theft steering lock is stuck.

Grab the steering wheel and pull HARD to the left, turning the key at the same time. It should pop loose.

My wife couldn't do it the other day, but it was just because she didn't have enough brute strength. The neighbor came over and pulled hard and sure enough it broke free.
