2005 Dodge Magnum w/out hemi stalling

Recently my 2005 Dodge Magnum has been stalling out when it comes close to a stop light. My wife was almost in an accident twice due to this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sincerely
Hot in Phoenix

Our's does the same thing. It also idles really bad just before it stalls and then gives the engine light, which sometimes doesn't always come one when it idles really rough. I went to Autozone and had them check the engine light to see what the issue was and they said that there was a misfire in the engine. Could be due to a bad spark plug or a bad spark plug wire. I have yet to change and of the spark plugs or check them so not sure if that really is the issue.

I have a problem with my 2002 Hemi 4x4 automatic trans.
it stalls like it's a manual trans as if I were to let the clutch out to fast., when it warms up it seems to do it less but still does it way to often. it seems like the torque converter is locking up.(I've only got 26000 miles on this truck)

I've had the same problem with my 05 magnum. Took mine to the dealership and they updated the computer and said that would fix it. So far it still stalls, not often but it still does.

My magnum has stalled out at a stop, slows and surges while driving even at high speeds, and check engine light has turned on and off. ??

You may have a dirty throttle body and idle speed air bypass valve, clean them and retest for stalling.

  • Anonymous Jul 21, 2013

Need to replace the throttle body with a brand new one, about a $300 part, but it will fix the stalling problem.

Replace the throttle body with a new one, my car is fixed.

I have a 2005 Magnum and was also having this problem. Stalled out a few times and continued to idle rough and feel like it was going to die when I would slow down. At times it would feel like I would get a hesitation and then a surge. Engine light would go on for a day or so, then go out for a few days. First time I took it in, the dealership told me that it was a broken seal (I don't know where), but they replaced it and it continued to happen. The second time I took it to a mom & pop shop, and they told me that it was the oxygen sensor/altimeter, replaced it (only a $35 part), and I haven't had a problem since. That was 6 months ago. Hope this helps...

The Bank 2 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor should be the lower sensor on the passenger side. Lower meaning after the catalytic converter.

Bas light dodge magnum

Same thing happened to my 2005 dodge magnum. Took it to the shop, we thought it was a computer issue. Flashed the computer and it didn't help. It ended up being the thermostat and some other parts. The shop had to remove the whole front grille to replace a part that went straight through the top of the engine. The part is plastic and had cracked and was slowly spewing coolant all over the engine. The car was basically overheating but so little that it was not evident at first. Once they replaced all of that the lights stopped coming on. Very frustrating to say the least.
