I Have a 1991 GMC sonoma turning a corner it just quit. The fuel pump is turning on but looking at the TBI I am not getting any fuel in. Fires when gas is sprayed in the TBI. Fuel filter was changed as a easy fix but no luck.

Yes I have 3/4 of a tank. First thing I looked at at the time. My guage should not be off that much. The pump was changed out 3 years ago. Going to look at the pressure it is putting out in the am. I was hoping it was not the pump as is a ***** to change. Will let you know. Thanks

Got it was the fuel pump. Looks as if the place that put in the last pump 3 years ago did not change the filter at the pump and it fell apart and bits got sucked into the pump. It was the original filter from 91. If you want things done right you have to do them your self. I swapped out the whole fuel unit. I think we r good for an other 457k. Thanks for your help

Simple test to find out if the pump has failed: remove the fuel filter and put the contact - if the fuel doesn't squirts out in force then you will know for sure that you need a new one.

2 things emediatly come to mind. forgive me but I have to ask, are you sure there is gas in the tank? turning a corner will draw fuel away from the pump if the tank is too low. If fuel is in the tank then your pump is more than likey dead. It may turn on and run but the diagphram is bad and there for not pumping. You can try an inline fuel pump to see if it runs with the aux pump.

I rmembered that the oil pressure switch must be working on this as well, or no pump, so if the pump is running I suspect the pressure switch is good, but I can't garantee it just yet.

The fuel gauges are sometimes in the pumps on newer models, I am not sure of the one you purchased, but it could also be giving you false readings.

The ground wire for the fuel pump is separate from the wire harness and may need to be re-grounded. (Common thing to happen) The only other thing you can do is try replacing the the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump it self if it's weak. Believe the fuel pressure for your TBI system is 13 to 14.5 PSI to have your engine run 100%.
Good luck and recheck you wire harness and ground lead wire. Thank you for using Fixya

FUEL PUMP DRAINING FUEL BACK INTO TANK WHEN ENGINE IS SHUT OFF

The fuel is in a continous loop being available at  all times to the TBFI. It has the return path so it can always return to the tank via the return line. Np check valve as the pump runs all the time.
