I don't know what a spaceship sounds like lol... but check for this ...

Paper might have fallen down in one of the vents causing a buzzing where the fan motor is blowing. Sometimes switching the heat up and down and blower motor faster and slower can dislodge the offending item.

Another possiblity is that the rubber piece where your steering wheel goes through the firewall to the motor compartment may have come loose. Lay on your back with seat pushed as far back as possible and inspect and adjust the rubber noise barrier.

Look for kids toys that might have got jammed down by the seats.

If you need more help, please describe what else might make a similar noise to help pinpoint the type of noise. Use words like whistle, chirp, squeak, buzz, etc...

Chevrolet Cavalier 2004 quits running while driving down the highway.

need to check fuel pressure, not just listen for pump to run, also check reading on coolant temp sensor, but sounds like fuel pump /filter issue. just because you hear pump run doesnt mean its putting our right amount of pressure. also check for plugged catylic convertor

Nosie in front end of 2000 caliver 2.2 and have chaged 2 wheel bearens and all rotors calibers pads still sounds like wheel bearen but when you go around corners it does not quiet down so we know it is not...

Make sure it isn't bad CV joints. Test them in a parking lot or other open space by cutting your wheel all the way to one side and driving, then all the way to the other side and drive. If you hear a clicking noise, you have bad CV joints.

Grumbling noise in front drivers side of car.Worst at 30-40 mph.

Sound more like the wheel/hub bearing. An axle will usually make a clicking noise when turning, and be quiet when going straight. It probably wont break by may but it may get louder. Get it checked asap.

Replacing the starter of chevy cavalier

1.The shims go between the starter body, and the engine block. These are installed to space the starter drive gear, away from the flywheel. They are only used if needed.

2.There is a gap that you need between the starter gear teeth, and the flywheel teeth. This gap should be about 3/32nd's of an inch, to 1/8th of an inch. With a flashlight, and a ruler, measure between the outside edge of the starter drive gear teeth, and the outside edge of the flywheel teeth.

Too close, when starting the vehicle it sounds very metallic, and like you're grinding corn.
Too far away, and the teeth don't engage properly, and you'll KNOW it! Sounds like a metallic 'zing', as the teeth skip. (Also it won't be long, and you'll be replacing the starter drive, and the flywheel!)

First check to see if the cooling fans on the radiator are working, You should be able to hear them from outside the car. Try turning on the a/c that should automatically make them come on. If they do not then you have a power loss to them. Check the relay under the hood by taking a small jumper wire and touching the terminals inside the plug going to the relay. If the fans run then the relay is bad. If they dont then it is possable that the cooling sensor is bad. Good luck. dont forget to rate.
