It's not easy to replace the starter on a 2002 to 2006 honda crv. I had replaced one on my my 2003 honda crv . It took hours I had to pull lots of things off to get to it. There is no way to pull it out from the bottom. I had to pull off the air cleaner and some other stuff just above the starter area. It had to come out from in between the radiator and the motor and placed in the same way. I hope this helps.
No there is not a trick, just very tight. If you aren't using a socket set with an extention it is almost impossible to get the bolts out though.
