Question about 1991 Isuzu Rodeo

1 Answer

Holden Jackaroo 1989 2.5 fuel injected 4 cyl starts then conks out. Have new Petrol Filter so no blockage of water. New Spark plugs. Suspect is an electrical problem somewhere. Possible Fusible link, capacitor on Coil or Alternator problem as Battery ok. On Carer Pension so cannot afford mechanic.

Could be your automatic gearbox clutches worn out! Time for a second-hand exchange gearbox, or a rebuild of the clutch section of the gearbox.

Run out of petrol put more in went to start car just kicks over seem like petrol not getting to carb the car is a 1997 model 146 no smells like flooding

Are you sure you ran out of petrol? It might be that the petrol pump or something else had died. The only way to tell is to undo the fuel line from the carb and turn it over, check if it pumps fuel (have someone help you with this.) You might also find that you've got a blockage in your fuel filter, caused maybe by **** left floating at the top of the tank that was sucked in when you ran out of petrol. Check the filter first and see if it's OK, then check if fuel is flowing. Also, on a 97 Alfa, I'd imagine it was fuel injected though I could be wrong. If it is then you'll want to be more careful wit the fuel line.

Fuel filter

Hi Russell

I do not think the fuel filter is the problem, but to renew it, you will find it located below the car, just in front, and in from the L/H rear wheel.
It is easy to replace, and you can undo the connections, and release the fixing cover, and slide it out.
Have you checked your petrol filler cap drain tube for blockage, and your petrol cap sealing rubber for splits ?
This is the usual way water gets in the fuel system.

I suspect possibly, you have a problem with your crank sensor, they do give lots of problems, and would tie in with your problem.

Give me some feed back as to what you think.

Good Luck !

P.S.Don´t forget to give me a FixYa rating, Please !
