You open the hood and look behind the headlight assembly. If nothing is obstructing your view, you will see an odd shaped mostly round piece of usually black or gray plastic with 3 wires coming out of the back. You un-twist this part about 1/4 turn to the left and pull back. It may be a little difficult as there is a silicon "O" ring on the H.L. bulb assembly. Grasp the bulb assy. and pull straight out to unplug it. DO NOT HANDLE THE NEW BULB WITH YOUR BARE HANDS!!!. The capsule is NOT glass but fused quartz. They use this because the newer halogen lamps burn hot enough to melt glass plus the capsule is under high pressure with halogen gas. The skin oils on your hands will degrade the quartz with heat in a short time and it will pop. When you open the new package, handle the new bulb with a clean soft cloth. Plug it back into the assembly and carefully replace it into the back of the headlight assembly twisting it to the right until it stops. It will only go in, in one position so becareful NOT to jam it in , in the wrong position. It is made this way so the bulb will go in the same way every time and shouldn't need to be realigned every time like the older cars did.
Good luck.
