Have 89 Lincoln Town Car, when I activate the high beams they will go off within 20 seconds. There is a "clicking" noise near the headlight switch and the low beams come on most times. Any ideas why ?

To turn off auto dimmer there will be a dial behind the headlight knob. There is a min to max, if dial is turned to min the auto dimmer will be turned off. Moving the dial between dim range and max with change the distance from other cars that the high beams will go off at.Max increases the distance from other cars that it will turn off at.

Is it equipped with auto dimmer sensor? When it sees oncoming headlights it would dim the brights automatically.

I can't find the fuse on the high beam or low beam on this 1984 lincoln town car....or the circuit breaker

The circuit breaker for the headlights is inside the headlight switch.
But if your low beams work and the high beams don't, the problem may be in the dimmer switch.

1998 Lincoln Town Car passenger side headlight low beam only.

Hi Steven, I guess you have checked the fuses? Some time (and I'n not saying this is your problem) the fuses are wired in such a way that if one blows (and the fuse is on the earth side of the circuit) there will be an output, but the circuit will either use the earth through the the other bulb or fail to earth. I would also suggest having a look at the relays and their operation. Lastly, check the earth connections again. Regards John

You have a bad mutifunction switch or headlight switch is going bad and is over heating then cooling off comming back on Have a mechanic check it cause there are other things that can cause this. Since it's not blowing a fuse at this time I would say the head light switch is bad.
