I had a similar problem on my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I had to change out my Cranshaft position sensor. I would try that first.
I've checked the evap can and I had a disconnected vac hose from the fuel tank. Reconnected it and prob not fixed. I also noticed a hairline crack in the vac line to the cruise control actuator. Changed the line. Nothing. Then I read the screws holding the PCM to the firewall may be shorting out the PCM when it gets hot. Thats my next investigation... Someone said to back out the screws and have a look if you notice any charring or visual 'issues' with the PCM printed circuit board?
Why were these vehicles stalling? What was the problem. My 2002 Jeep Liberty is stalling exactly the way these people are saying
Fuel filter may need to be changed.

We will be driving our jeep patriot, and it turns off on us, we have nearly gotten into several accidents. We are currently going to court to get our Money back
I have the same problem with my 1996, I will be driving and it will just stop running. It is not a fuel problem because everything is newer or the computer because it is newer. Any ideas??

03 jeep ran for a few seconds the stalled would not crank using starter fluid it cranked but ran rough. then it would not crank on starter fluid.
I have the same problem with my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, as described above. In the morning,my Jeep will start up fine, but while driving for a little bit, it will stall out. I pull over to the side and it starts right back up. I have replaced my fuel filter and it does the same thing. I have also put quite a bit of fuel cleaning liquid, from STP, to Preston complete fuel system cleaner, to Lucas in the vehicle. None of it has helped, it is doing the same thing. The other day i sat in my truck for about 30mins with it on and it just cut off. It would not start back up. I let it sit for about an hour and it started right up, but i got on the freeway and after driving about 10miles it cut off on me again. It acts as if it does not have enough gas, but it is full of gas.
stalls while driving, random. could it be ignition module - already replaced coil?
where is the filter located
My 1995 JGC (190K) was running fine when all of a sudden I started having the following problem:
Car starts fine. Runs fine. After about 30 to 45 mins at highway speeds...
1: When at speed if I step on the gas the engine stumbles like I'm out of gas...
2: If I back off the accelerator it keeps running but problem persists.
3: If I shut off the car for about 5 minutes, it starts up fine on first try. Another 30 minutes later... same stumble and problem.
I've changed the fuel filter twice. No help. This car has no seperate pressure regulator. Relay seems fine.
Could this be the fuel pump?
I also have a whining sound (sounds like an ELECTRONIC servo operating when I try and accelerate. It makes the sound for about 3 seconds then stops. But will reoccur often. Someone told me vaccum at the evap cannister?
Please help!!!
