According to a Gates website (they make timing belts) and another online list (googled: toyota interference engine list), all the engines in the 1991 Celica are free-running and should not suffer damage from a broken timing belt while driving. Cheers!

Timing belt broke on hyundai sonata 2002 what should I do? The mechanic saya theres a ten percent chance that replacing the belt will solve the problem.

You have had contact with a mechanic

Why are you asking for advise or a personal
decision?

Wasn't all your thoughts & questions answered?

Is the car still at the shop waiting on your authorization
to continue

We need that kind of info.

We're not experts that even know if your engine is
an interferance type, you have to tell us. That is why
I guess the mechanic is expecting major damage from
a broken belt

The shop still has to look inside the cylinders with the
proper camera they probalby don't have or ever heard
of ,to look for damage

They have to do a cylinder leak down test for valve damage

If everything is good & you got lucky, then you replace the
water pump, all idler pulleys, tensioners & the broken belt

1995 toyota camry If timing belt broke while I was driving what damage was caused?

Whether 4-cyl or V6 there should not have been any, as these are non-interference engines, that is, the pistons do not hit the valves when timing fails. The engine just stops.

CAR STALLED. DISCOVERED TIMING BELT HAD BROKEN. REPLACED BELT. STILL WILL NOT START BUT WILL TURN OVER

It sounds like the timing is still off, which will not allow it to start, or you have a faulty cam, or crank sensor.

My timing belt broke while i was driving what damage am i looking at

Ouch, I suspect this is going to be expensive. Most times if a belt breaks while driving, valves get bent or broken also. Usually head has to be reworked or replaced. Bring your wallet/ (sorry)

LOOKS LIKE MY 99MAXIMA CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BELT BROKE AND THE PULLEY IS KINDA HANGING OFF SOME, WHAT AM i LOOKING AT? JUST BELT AND IS PULLEY OK OR REPLACEMENT OF BOTH? PLEASE HELP DONT WANT TO GET RIPPED...

If it's the main pulley that connects to the crankshaft and drives the serpentine belt, it's called the dampener pulley.
If the dampener pulley has worked loose or separated, you'll need to replace any damaged components, possibly including the pulley, mounting bolt and even the crankshaft and front engine housing could have been damaged if the pulley continued to turn while it was loose.
It could be as simple as tightening the bolt or as severe as a major engine rebuild. A mechanic can't know until he takes a look at it.

My 1998 toyota canry timing belt broke. Is this an interferance motor? Did It destroy the engine?

no you most likely bent valves on inlet side, pull the head and check for any other damage it all really depends on the rpm when the belt broke. ( rate me thanks )

Whats involded in replacing timing belt

Replacing the belt, belt tensioner and waterpump (recommended). about 130.00 in parts, some special tools patience and time. NOT for a Beginner. If put together wrong major damage will result. If belt failed while driving major damage has resulted.

When installing timing belt, where do I place the marks on the cam and the crank?

Go to any autoparts store and get a manual for your vehicle. Installing a timing belt incorrectly can cause major engine damage. If this belt broke while driving you may already have bent valves. Timing belts should be repalced every 60,000 miles.

The serpentine belt broke i have replaced it but the car will not start now. I was driving it when it broke. I have checked for bad wires and the battery all looks good. I have no idea where to go from...

You have charged your battery correct? If you are jump starting and the motor is not cranking then I would check the starter wires. If not please let me know and I will continue to try and help.
