#1998 Ford Taurus runs sometime and then won't start

Are you missing fuel pressure or spark when it fails to start ?
Could be a relay or several other things.

1998 ford taurus will not start without using starter fluid

I would check fuel pressure before and after you crank the engine.
The pump gets power for 3 seconds during startup - if the fuel pressure has leaked down you would have to crank the engine until the oil pressure came up to get the pump to power up again.

My taurus will not start

If you have no fuel pressure, a mechanic would check for voltage at the relay and the pump. If the pump has no voltage, check the inertia switch.

How do i syphon gas from a '98' ford taurus, so i can replace the fuel pump?

you should not have to sypon the fuel just locate the fuse that controls the fuel pump pull it out and start the car when it stops there will be no pressure in any line. you should be able to remove the fuel pump without any trouble then

When I am driving, it accelerates by itself and no cruise control

We have a 1998 Ford Taurus that does the same exact thing. It mysteriously seems to do this randomly. We have an intermittent code for the camshaft sensor which I replaced. But, this didn't solve the problem.

I think it's a design flaw.

My 1987 Ford Taurus 3.0L, AT stalls after it's been running for a little while. Has new fuel pump and filter. Any ideas? partsplusguy

Have you checked the fuel pressure when running?

Is the fuel pressure correct?

Perhaps your fuel pressure regulator is bad, or the fuel pump relay is going bad.
