Hi I have a 2000 Ford Expedition. I had front and rear heater core replaced by a mechanic. Front heater works great but now the rear heater blows warm not hot air. Took it back and the mechanic flushed the system but rear heater still blowing warm air. Mechanic insist its the climate control switch but it was blowing hot air before the rear new heater core was installed..... Does anybody knows what it could be? Please help

Well the first thing I would want to know is if the rear heater core is getting hot. You can check the heater hoses if they are accessable, or pull the cover off the unit next to the third row seat and check the core.
Would to get in a warm workshop and head under the dash as i think well sure their is a problem with the flap over the top of the heater core rad ,could be a vacumn pipe perished so its not opening or the operating mechanism but if the worst came to the worst case scenario i would hold it open with a spring or a elastic band ,nothing worse than a cold motor especially in ice road trucker land
With your front heat working the most likely cause for the rear heat not to work is that there is an obstruction in the line that is preventing the warm coolant to get to the rear heater core or the rear heater core itself is plugged and not circulating. Another possible cause could be low coolant level where the system has enough coolant to provide the front system with enought warm coolant but not the rear system. Hope this helps
Hi:
Your vehicle only has one set of connections to the heating system, and you disconnected them when you bypassed the heater core. There is not a seperate heater core for the rear heat, just ducts off of the front heat.
Listen and see if the vent flap is moving from the hot position, to the cold position. If that's working then the evaporator may be clogged. It sits inside the same box that the heater core is inside of and if it becomes clogged with hair or dust, then it wont allow the blower to blow through it. But it would then bring hot air through the vents because the heater core is there too.
Buy used parts at car-part.com. Look on page with * to find the cheapest part. Coud be your temp blend door (#2) may not be moving back and forth. Or, you are not getting hot water to the rear heater core.
You may have to crawl under the truck and feel the heater hoses to see if they are hot. You will find a group of 4 lines, 2 for heater and 2 for a/c. If hot, you know hot water is getting back to the heater core. If not, there may be a hot water vave that's not working. Not sure if EXP. has a water valve for rear.
first of all I would make sure the car has proper amount of coolant and you are right it is very possible you have an air pocket in the system also ask your self did you change the thermastat after you did the heater core when the car is cold make sure there is coolant at the cold mark on the reservior bottle because you might not have enough coolant then start the car and get it up to temp and if the coolant goes not go up to the hot mark when the car gets to temp you do not have enought coolant just keep adding coolant and you will see the bubble after the thermastat opens
