Where does the small black wire go that comes from the negative battery cable? I remember that it runs under my 1984 corvette and enters under the car at about where the driver seat is. The wire broke and I don't know where to take it. Now my car is dead and won't start when you turn the key. No ignition and the dash cluster is completely dead.

Not sure which one you are referring to ..but vettes body is made from fiberglass and resin. On cars with metal bodies the body acts as the negative circuit path. The wire probably attaches to a major metal frame rail where all other components . A starter or alternator shop that deals with electrical components might help.

SOURCE: 1966 Corvette Ignition, car stops running in 2-3 miles, just quit

The big red wire on the big connector on the firewall is the problem. You need to take it apart and clean the contacts. Another fix is to run the big red wire through the connector after you solder it together.

How do you run a power supply.

To prevent overloading the Accessory wiring .
Run from car battery . However put two fuses in one for negative lead (in case car jump started incorrectly) another for positive lead.
Then tape wires together in insulation tape. Run cable though engine bay to drivers side of car. Then look for Accessory wire of the back of car key switch. Use this with a relay to switch the positive power feed to the cable running under side trims to boot/trunk .
car relay -undefined-undefined-0.jpg if battery connected to car body you could use car body for black wire and attach the relay and amp negative leads to car body

On the starter of 2006 chevy uplander how many wires from the vehicle should there be

There should be 2 wires. One large diameter cable from the battery to the starter, and one small wire (sometimes 2 small wires) into the same connector/eyelet. Remember to disconnect your negative battery cable before removing the starter/battery connection.

How do I get to the blower motor on a 1984 oldsmobile toronado?

Your Buick Riviera's heater fan is powered by a blower motor, which in turn is powered by a blower motor resistor. The resistor is a small electrical component that also regulates the fan speeds of the blower motor. Like any part, the blower burns out from time to time and has to be replaced. Replacement blower motor resistors cost about $50. It will take you about 30 minutes to install a new one in your Buick Riviera.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket set
  • Screwdriver
    • 1

Open the hood and disengage the negative battery cable on your Buick Riviera using your socket set. You will need a 10mm socket to loosen the battery cable bolt.

    • 2

Remove the plastic trim panel under the glove compartment on the passenger side of your Riviera.

    • 3

Loosen and remove the mounting screws that hold the blower resistor in place on your Riviera.

    • 4

Unplug the wiring harness from the old blower resistor and then remove the resistor completely.

    • 5

Plug the wiring harness into your Buick's new resistor. Also tighten the screws to hold the resistor in place.

    • 6

Reattach the negative battery cable on your Riviera and tighten it with your socket set.

How do I jump my Chevy Equinox? Where is the battery?

Under the hood

To the right

Black fuse box

pop the fuse box off (no tool needed, but screwdriver helps)

Small metal post to the right.

That is your + possitive (red wire)

Connect the black wire (-) FIRST, to a medal part of the engine that does not move when is running

now connect your possitive.

Make sure the cable does not go in the path of any moving parts on the motor.

connect the other end of the black wire to the negative (-) of the other car BEFORE connecting the possitive(+/red) wire.

Now with the other engine running wait a minute, now try starting your car.

Wiring to starter cylinoid for a 1984 Ford Ltd Brom ?

Step1 Disconnect the black negative cable from the battery. Step2 Raise the vehicle using a jack and support it safely on jack stands if necessary. Depending on your vehicle model, you might have to install and wire the starter-solenoid assembly from underneath the car. Step3 Bring the starter as close as possible to its mounting bracket on the engine. Sometimes you can use the jack to support it while you make the electrical connections, and this comes in handy since the starter is somewhat heavy and awkward to work on while you hold it with one hand. Step4 Use a wrench or ratchet and socket to connect the red battery cable to the big bolt on the solenoid and the bypass ignition terminal wire to the small bolt underneath the first bolt. If there is enough room, you might want to start threading the starter mounting bolts without tightening them before you make the connections. Step5 Make sure the wires are well connected and finish mounting the starter on the engine. Step6 Lower the vehicle and reconnect the black negative cable. Remote-Mounted Solenoid Step1 Disconnect the black negative cable from the battery. Step2 Mount the solenoid in place in the engine compartment using a wrench or ratchet and socket. Step3 Connect the red cable coming from the battery to the large bolt on the left-hand side of the solenoid. Step4 Connect the starter cable to the large bolt located on the right-hand side of the solenoid. Step5 Connect the control wire to the small control circuit terminal on the left-hand side of the solenoid. It is usually marked with the letter "S" . Step6 Connect the other small wire to the ignition bypass terminal, which is on the right-hand side of the solenoid. Step7 Reconnect the black negative battery cable.

1994 buick lesabre wont charge

Before, you buy a new Alternator or Battery... Check the Battery with a DC-Volt meter. It should read 12.5 volts or more with the key off. If the Battery reads less then 12.5 volts, have it charged free at Autozone or O'Reiley's auto. If the voltage is 12.5 volts or more, start your engine. With the engine running check the battery voltage again. It should read 13.5 to 15.5 volts. IF YES, Your charging system is work fine.

**IF NOT, and your Battery voltage 12.5 or less, You DO have a charging problem. It must be 13.5 to 15.5 volts!!! 1 - The first thing you want to check is the Battery cables and Battery post contacts. Remove the Negative cables FIRST!!!! Then the Positive, Clean the battery posts and cables with a wire brush!!! There are (3) Large Black cables on the Positive post of the battery, one goes to the starter, one goes to the relays & fues on the fire wall, and one goes to the back of the Alternator Battery output terminal.

Remove and clean the cable, nut & terminal of the Alternator with a wire brush. Then, reconect it tight to the Alternator output terminal. Now, there is (1) Large Black cable & (2) small wires on the Negative post of the Battery. The Large one goes to the Engine Block Ground. The small ones go to the front fender screw on the passenger side car body. Clean them with a wire brush. The most IMPORTANT GROUND is the Large Black cable from the Negative of the Battery going to the ENGINE BLOCK!!! To Remove & wire brush them clean, fallow the Large Black cable going to the Engine Block under the side coil assembly. Remove (3) NUTS & a triangle metal shild. clean all (3) wires & the Bolt & NUTS. Re-assemble very tight!!!

When completed, Reconect the Positive Battery cables firt! Then, the Negative Cables. Make sure they are all making good contact and are nice & tight. Now, check your battery voltage again with the car off! It should be 12.5 volts or more. Re-start the car, Check the battery voltage for 13.5 to 15.5 volts. IF - YES....IT'S FIXED! IF - NOT.... Turn the car OFF & look for a small black conector that plugs into the side or under the Alternator. It will have only (1) small RED wire going to it.
Very carefully, stick a straight-pin in the red wire & let the pin come out the other side. Don't let it touch any metal !

Start the car & let it run. Now put the (black) lead of your DC-Volt-Meter on the Negative of the Battery. Then, put the ((red) lead of your meter on the straight pin. It MUST have 8.0 to 12.0 DC-volts there !
IF - YES... The regulator inside the Alternator in BAD. (REPLACE) the Alternator. IF - THERE IS NO VOLTAGE there... Then, the red wire is bad... or the (P C M section) inside the ENGINE CONTROL MODULE is BAD!

The Alternator is about $100.00, The red wire is about $2.00, But the ENGINE CONTROL MODULE is about $400.00 plus from a dealer. Only, about $170.00 from autozone and about $125.00 from a wrecking yard.

**** NOTE **** If your Engine Control Module is bad, Look for my INFORMATION on FIX-YA, "HOW TO REPLACE THE ECM on a 94 BUICK" Thanks and GOOD LUCK !!!
