It sounds like the distributor is not timed properly set the timing on top dead centre and see if the rotor arm of the distributor is pointing at number one plug lead

have you checked the relay between the battery and the starter? i had a ltd 2 that suddenly refused to start after trying everything else it turned out to be a little black box(relay) on the fender well between battery and everything else!
Does The Inlet Manifold Under The Carberetor Have Water Hoses Going To IT,If Yes? This Water Is To Keep The Carberetor Cool The Pipes And The Manifold Could Be Blocked Stopping The Water From Flowing And Allowing The Carb To Get Hot! When You Stop The Fuel Evaporates Causing It Not To Start Remove A Piupe When Cold Start Engine Does Water Flow Out, If Yes Or No Re Fit Hose Then Remove Other Hose If Yes Then The Manifold And Or Pipes Are Blocked. Remove Manifold Clear Out Blockage ,Replace Hoses Re Fill Radiator With Anti Freeze Solution ,Problem Should Be Solved Hope This Helps
when car won`t turn but clicks then the ( brushes of you starter are worn may be the man who replace used the old brushes ) its very simple thing but will get your car to start but you didn`t mention anything about fuses and relays if you haven`t replace them all then replace relays/fuse first you welcome any time sir .
check this,
remove a convenient spark plug, stick it on it's wire and place where you can see it, stick you finger over the spark plug hole and have a friend crank the engine, note whether the air blast and spark are the same instant if not the distributor's out of time
Guide to starting a dead horse! 1- Spray a little starter fluid down the carbuerator. If it tries to fire, your timing and ignition is probably OK. This could indicate a carb or fuel pump problem. 2- If it doesn't fire, check out the points, condenser, coil, distributor cap and rotor. Look for condensation inside the cap. Check that the high tension wire from the coil to distributor is in good shape and not touching the engine or any brackets,etc. 3- Verify that your timing is correct. You may have a timing train problem (Worn or broken). 4- The distributor may have come loose and changed positions. Check for proper timing. 5- It may be a compression problem. If it has set long enough for the oil that coats the cylinder walls to drain down, you won't have enough compression to allow firing. Check your compression and if this seems to be the case, remove the spark plugs and squirt a little Marvel Mystery oil, or similar light weight oil into each cylinder. When it starts, it will smoke for a few minutes, but that will go away. Hope this helps and if not, get back to me. Have a super day! Ron
