If the fuse blows after turning the ignition key to the "on" position you might try disconnecting the electrical connector to the fuel pump and turning the key to the "on" position. If the fuse still blows there is a short in the wiring to the fuel pump. If the fuse does not blow it is more than likely the fuel pump.

Why does it blow EFI fuse when trying to start car?

Sounds like you have a wring problem. With both the pump and injector harnesses disconnected. Plug one and check if fuse blows, then disconnect and try with the other harness. This will help you determine which circuit is causing the fuse to blow. Once you determine the circuit, begin checking the wiring from one end to the other and see it insulation is melted or damaged.

I a 1995 dodge ram 1500, I just replaced the fuel pump, and battery cable to the starter. Now here's my question every time I turn the key to the on position tying to start it it blows the 10amp mini fuse...

I would check your wiring that goes to that fuse cause it's currently getting to many amps going through it causing it to blow. Something is sending to many volts through the wires that lead to that fuse. Recheck the wiring you've already done and make sure you didn't disturb any other wires in the process

for the fuse to blow there is either to high a power draw to that particular component , is it the fuel pump fuse ? or there is a short to earth , if it is the fuel pump fuse you may have pinched a wire during the repair, if the fuse isn't for the fuel pump check the component it is for

1986 corvette roadster found in barn. Car has not been run since sept of 1994. I want to use fuel pump to pump out old fuel and test pump. Is there any way to jump across a relay or fuse to accomplish this

I WOULD JUST REPLACE THE PUMP AND GET A WET DRY VACC TO **** OUT THE OLD GAS.THE PUMP COMES OUT THE TOP OF THE FILLER NECK.REMOVE THE LID OR THE COVER,, THEN THERE IS A BUNCH OF 10MIL BOLTS AND SOME GAS LINES TO DISCONNECT.ITS PROBABLY ALL RUSTY AND THE FUEL GAUGE DOESNT WORK AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.I WOULD GET A USED UNIT ON EBAY.

Car won't start no power at fuel pump or fuel pump fuse. Thanks Brian

Locate and replace the fuel pump relay and see if it will start then. Also, make sure that the battery terminals are clean and secure; also on the starter, and the ground (at chassi - or block, wherever the ground leads).
