Just bough a2001 saturn l300 when it first starts the rpm drops back to 4000., rpm and then goes back about 7000 most of time.the vechile will die and has to be started several times before you can drive.it.cananyone help

cmp goes to icm and icm to pcm.2002 Ecotec 2.2 DOHC. no VIN F IS 2.4L AND VASTLY DIFFER\ENT

You could have overheated to *****. Blown head gaskets. $1300+ at a shop.

Plz check engine coolant temperature sending unit that feeds the computer. (Not the one that controls gauge on dash).

Yeah, the Volvo dealer that you are dealing with is the proverbial POS - if possible cancel the deal, get your dinero back and get the car from an outfit that can properly service the vehicle.

They make a connector for the sender unit and they have to usually be replaced. Watch which way it goes on since they are a little cumbersome plugging back on...I prefer soldering the new connectors on too.

Disconnect the throttle body wire and restart,ECM replacement?Do you still have the old ECM?I belive the problem may not have resided in the ECM,When you get a reduced power its doesnt mean a bad ECM The purpose for reduce power is to protect the catalytic convertor,If there is a fault detected in the APP1 or the APP2 a reduce power is ordered.What mediates this is the TPS sensor APP1 goes high and APP2 goes low,If you have a 2003 ECM or saturn this is not a drop in ECM.Your particular year is CAN,means you need to flash it.

you have a big air leak or the throttle is stuck open

Check your transmission fluid level. If the filter has never been changed, now is a good time to replace the fluid and filter.

Check for a vaccum leak at the intake. With the engine at idle spray a bit of starting fluid to find it. You will hear the engine pick-up when you hit the spot. Change the necessary gasket. Hopefully this will solve your prob! Frankster016
