There are 6 bolts that hold the rear trunk panel on the trunk itself:
4 behind the license plate on the outside of the trunk and two inside
the trunk panel trim. 1. Remove the license place from the DeVille rear trunk panel. 2. Remove the 4 bolts located below the license plate. 3. Remove the trunk panel (felt) trim inside the trunk. 4. There is a small bolt on each side of inside trunk panel (4mm I believe). Remove them. Each will have a rubber washer on them so you'll know you are removing the correct bolt. 5.
From the outside of the trunk, lift out the rear trunk panel. The
license plate light (and reverse lights) are removed by turning the
light assemblies counter clockwise.
In the newer Chevy Cobalts the trunk release button is usually located to the left of the steering wheel instead of the glove box.----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Car cable & OBD Connector
The trunk trim would be plastic inside of car. Anything you can do to expose the inside access to the taillamp assembly. Carpet ,plastic trim, Ect...Once you have removed the Plastic wing nuts , the lamp assembly should pull out from the outside. Once the lamp is out ,make sure all lights are working. To replace ,they should twist about a quarter of a turn, and pull off. Then the bulbs will be there. Make sure the lights have the same numbers as the old ones. Let me know if that helps
Replacing a bulb on a Lexus is rather easy but a little involve. You can actually locate the wiring harness by removing the trim panels within your trunk. There are typically two cargo hooks that screw out found on either side of the trunk opening. Also, there are Christmas tree push pins found on the trim panels located on the the trunk sides and the upper part of the trunk. Furthermore, there is a plastic trim panel along the inside front of the trunk that may need to be removed. Bottom line, remove as much as you need to in order to gain access to the tail light wiring harness.
All that is next is to find the appropriate light socket that holds the light that needs to be replaced. Carefully twist the light socket to the left and pull the light out of taillight. Then pull the light out of the socket and place the light back into the appropriate hole and twist to the right about a 1/2 to lock the socket in place.
Then, replace the trim panels, push pins and screws.
In most cases, you will only need to pull the trim panels back far enough to reach you hand in to replace the light.
remove the trim on the trunk then there are three bolts 10 mm remove those then push up the third brake light and there you go the easiest light to change on a beetle. you will need a phillips to unscrew the trim on the trunk lid the bolts are in the pull down parts. then pull real hard to get the trim out of the clip holders
most likely it is velcro unless you see some trim screws... just peel back the corner that your tail light is on your wish to replace... give the socket a quarter turn... replace the bulb then install the socket
