The check engine light recently came on in my 2004 Honda Civic and the car proceeded to lose power and shut off repeatedly. After running the diagnostic it indicated that the crankshaft sensor needed to change. This was changed but 1 day later the light is back on and the car has shut down again. The diagnostic is not identifying anything currently. Any suggestions on what the problem might be? At current my mechanics are stumped...

Check engine light means emissions control system failure.
I would only rely on Honda to properly diagnose this and
replace component failure with Honda part. The ck engine
light was probably reset when your mechanic replaced the
crankshaft sensor, and in time, came back on cause the
problem has not been corrected.

That's because the car is putting itself into "limp"mode. Take it some where to have the code read without the code number it tells me nothing.

you may have a faulty alternator or and internal part in the alternator, replace it with a dealer part and that may solve the problem, it must be a dealer part..

Check engine light is on on my 2004 civic lx obd 2 scanner gives code 302 changed plugs but that did not fix the problem

A P0302 code means that the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #2.

A code P0302 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

Faulty spark plug or wire
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Running out of fuel
Poor compression
Defective computer

Take out the air intake tube that goes to the throttle body and start the car. Now have someone hold the gas peddle so the engine stay at 2500 rpm get a can of carburetor cleaner at your local parts store and spray into the throttle body. My car when the sun hit, dont start

Do you mean you have trouble starting it when it is hot outside? If so get the battery checked first, heat and cold stress the battery.

If you mean you lose power as you drive when its hot out, that is a whole other problem.

Engine stalls when driving & loses power

You have to reset your computer. In the engine compartment, left side on the strut well, is a black fuse box. You must remove the 10 amp hazard fuse for ten (10) seconds and then reinstall. That should make your CHECK ENGINE light go out. You do need to ascertain why it's coming on though.

Code error P1361 Honda CIvic LX 2002 -- What it really means? Appear Check engine light intermitent. In my case after Timing belt, water pump, tensor, oil seals and spark replacement. Car lose power and...

P1361 TDC Sensor Intermittent Interruption (I got this from Engine-Light-Help.com)
TDC should mean Top Dead Center.
It is the sensor that tells the computer the #1 cylinder piston is at the very top. And therefore, fires the spark plug.

Since the maintenance done above, I believe the the timing marks for the timing belt is not lined up properly. Being off by one tooth will cause this problem.
