A bearing on its way out usually rumbles and there is some perceptible play in it. Jack up one wheel at a time and rock the wheel, holding it at the top and bottom. There should be no play at all. If play is detected it could be a loose stub axle nut, check it for correct torque. Turn the wheel and listen for any unusual noise. If in doubt the final check is always to dismantle the wheel bearings and do a physical inspection. Any unevenness or discolouration in the races is cause for doubt and rejection.
Listen for it as you are driving if any one of them is bad it will make a metal to metal grinding noise(not screeching) now that being said if the noise that you are hearing is only while you are turning the your c.v. joints are bad and they will make a loud cliking noise usually only while turning
