Have a whining noise coming from the front end of my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4. it increases as you pick up speed. No noise if you coast or when putting the vehicle in neutral. I was told that it might be the bearings in the front differential. The whining started after a change off oil in the front and back differentials, correct oil was applied and there is enough oil in the diffs.

The noise you are hearing may be caused by a loose or worn serpentine belt and is slipping during all engine speeds while under load. It could also be a worn serpentine idler pulley that has worn out. These are just two areas for you to consider, but it is hard for me to tell without actually hearing the noise. Take the vehicle to an autoparts store and have someone check these engine components for a possible cause. They won't charge you anything.
if it shakes over 50 miles per hour, it could be your front tires need balancing. and check your ball joints while you are at it. or king pins if it has that. (they are different from ball joints but serve the same purpose.)
I think there is a TSB on that problem. If the wind is coming from the passanger side then roll the window all the way down. Put a 2X4 in the door jam. So the 2X4 will be inbetween the the door and the jeep. Push on the top of the door like you are trying to close the door. What you are trying to do and slightly bend the top of the door toward the jeep. But just do it a little at a time.
Does the noise sound as though it is coming from either the front or rear axle and does the noise change as your speed increases. If so it sound as though your axle is whining requiring overhauled if really bad.Common problem
