You can look at what a used one is at Just enter the info of the car, and it will give a listing of available transmissions for your car.

My 1990 BMW 535i changed transmission from auto to manuel when i did a loud pinging sound, now dash says trans Program, slips in all drive gears but is fine in reverse. How do i and how much cost

needs attention from a transmission man/woman, if it is slipping the friction materials may have worn. Not sure of your particular box but this is not something you can fix. It is probably best to visit a good/recommended technician rather than BMW,they will charge an arm and a leg to investigate and rectify, a good local transmission specialist should save you loads of money.

I have 1992 Toyota Camry 2.2L 4 cylinder. The trans is an automatic.. It grabs every gear. Except reverse. The transmission fluid is all watery. Just a few minutes ago My drive gear wasn't going any higher...

Probably the bands and internal clutches for your particular transmission are shot. If you took off the transmission oil pan and looked at the filter you would find pieces of metal in the filter. Some transmissions also have a magnet to pick up some of the disintegrating metal as well. My recommendation is to take it to your trusted auto mechanic and have him find you a good used one or a rebuilt one. If you go to a dealer you will pay thousands. It will still cost over a thousand parts and labor but that's a hell of a lot less than the alternative. Also it would cost you more to have the transmission rebuilt than to get a good, low Milage used one or a rebuilt one from a place that rebuilds them all day. I have been down this road with both engines and transmissions and my info comes from a mechanic with over 50 years of experience that owns his own shop. Good luck. Cost about $1500 or less my way.

On this particular truck the transmission is known very well for the "Transmission overdrive section to fail". From your description it will probably need an overhaul, but caution: Is the truck worth it, these transmissions will cost anywhere from about $1400 up to maybe $2000 with parts and labor included. The transmission valve body is a common replacement also. Best of luck....

2003 town & country wont go into drive

If fluid and filter hasn't been changed then I would definately try that first. BE SURE, they replace fluid with MOPAR only from dealer. Chrysler transmissions are very particular about fluid, even though mechanic will tell you it's all the same, it isn't. Seen it happen time and time again where transmission acts up after fluid change of "same stuff", different brand. Then added cost of changing fluid again to MOPAR and all was well.

Cost to replace transmission 1996 cadillac deville

Hi there

The repair or replacement cost for this particular section of your vehicle will cost around $1,800 to $3,000; Depending on the actual type of transmission mounted. If rear wheel drive equipped; this will have a fairly decent labor charge attached to the actual part price. Typical Cadillac transmission replacement charges will run around $1,900 dollars. I would recommend to inquire about repairing the actual damaged sector of the transmission/transaxle, if possible. If catastrophic damage has occurred, total replacement may be needed.

Have oil in radiator and it does not change gears untill 40 mph. Drang and machine flush radiator and the temperature rose to 1 o'clock. Before I flush the car ran good and I do have tro add oil. What...

You have a very expensive problem on your hands--the common core radiator for the cooling system and the oil cooler for the transmission has leaked one into the other. The fix is to replace the radiator or to block off the connections to the transmission lines and install an auxiliary oil-cooler attached to the radiator core thus saving the original radiator. Unfortunately, the transmission has very likely drawn in coolant into itself which needs to be completely cleaned out, the internals of the transmission inspected--particularly, the bearings and any other close fitting components. Farming this job out will likely cost over $3000! It might be cheaper to replace the transmission with one from a wrecking yard. Hope this helps!

Car hesitates when it shifts gears. This is particularly noticable in stop and go city driving.

r u the original owner of the car? do u know if the transmission was serviced as per the maitenance schedule? hopefully u only need to change the transmission filter and fluid (costs about $60 plus labor). i've heard of tcm's needing replacement too, but try the cheap route first. have u had the computer checked? u can often find a garage that will check for trouble codes for a fee, but include the fee as payment if u get your car fixed there. hope this helps.

Being over ten years old best thing to do is buy a used tranny and swap it out. Its' going to cost big bucks either way unless you can do it yourself. Then buy a Haynes or Clinton's repair shop manual for your particular vehicle. Read up on it in the trouble shooting section or the step by step replacement section. You can purchase these at your local Auto Parts store or buy them on line at ebay burdfrenzy

My check engine light came on and when it was diagnosed it was the transmission pressure solenoid. I cannot find a breakdown guide to put it in and i'm having trouble finding the part as well.

it was NOT the transmission pressure control solenoid. It was the powertrain control module. it was covered under the federal emissions control act. What was gonna cost me about 700 ended up costing me nothing because the federal government covers that particular part under a warranty up to 80,000 miles on the 2005 Pontiac Vibe. My advice is to take it to the dealer and make them do a diagnostic test and see if whatever problem is covered by the federal government because even if its out of warranty they may still cover it because of emissions control. Couldn't hurt right? The exact phrase the mechanic used was "PC solenoid internal malfunction in PCM". Hope this helps!
