Question about 2002 Hyundai Accent

1 Answer

I have a 2002 Hyundai Accent the Alternator went out and replaced that and it started just fine acept for the following: The low beams on the head lights work high beams ( but the low beams don't work ) also, the radio does not work and the in dash clock above the radio does not work. I checked all the fuses in the fuse block under the dash on the drivers side and also check the fuse in the engine compartment and all were good. Help, I don't have a wiring diagram to know were to look other links. Dave

It sounds like a blown fuse. Are you checking them with a test light? And have you located all of the fuses. there will typically be a fuse box under the drivers dash area, and one under the hood. have another look Im certain you'll find a blown fuse. Good luck.

Thank you for writing back. I checked each fuse for continuity and all checked out. In the engine compartment all those fuses checked ok as well, I also checked the sockets with a test light where the fuses plug into, in the engine compartment and there is juice at that point. What makes its hard find out is, I don't have schematic to follow to show me any relays or fuses that I can not see that is in the wiring harness.

Hi Dave, I am having the same troubles with the dashlights, clock, stereo. I own a 2000 Hyundai Accent. If the e-brake is up or on nothing works. when it is cold outside the dashlights come on then go out about 6 minutes later. I even tried to run a new ground did not help. If I fiqure it out i will post OK! Colin

Hello Colin, check the diodes (two) in the fuses box under the hood. If you can't test them, swap them, (you can also swap with those in the fuse box near the driver's left foot, since they are all the same). In my case was the one which is the farest from the center of the fuse box. I hadn't problems with the stereo, but I did with the dashlights and the lights indicating the gear near the lever. Good Luck.

Left headlights

Check your connections at the wiring harness going to headlights for corrosion, sounds like high resistance somewhere, also make sure your ground wires are secure. It wouldn't be the alternator or the battery would be dead and not start the engine. Also shouldn't be any condensation in your head light assembly's or will cause bulbs to blow prematurely.

2002 Hyundai Accent Problem: intermittent

What your car is shouting at you is that there is a low power problem. This may be simply a battery cable or a corroded connection but the systems are not able to get the power they need. I would take the vehicle to a AutoZone (or competitor) as they have free diagnostics for the battery, alternator and etc. They can also read the codes in the OBC module.

Which wire is the low beam wire for a 2002 hyundai accent 4 door. i'm trying to install fog lights

I would install the fog lights off of ignition battery, (power when key is on), connecting thru the headlights could put too much current draw on the headlight circuit.

High-low beams not working

Check for headlight relay and fuse. Some cars have separate circuits for head light flasher and normal high/low beam. From your description, I would suspect a bad connection to/from relay or relay itself.
