the idle is controlled by the computer and the idle speed motor if the idle is too low the first thing you should do is check for a vacume leak as this will directly effect the idle or revs as you say
It sounds like the gas control lever under the hood may be sticking a little and not retracting fully to idle.Open your hood and have someone start your car. When they give it some gas you should see the actuator move which has a cable attached, probably located at the end of the fuel injectors on the driver side.It should be pretty noticeable as about the only moving mechanism when the gas pedal is pushed.Usually pushing the gas pedal makes the lever move toward the driver.Once you have found it,push down on it in the opposite direction as giving gas to see if the revs decrease back closer to idle.If it does,WD-40 on the hinge where it pivots may help.Spray it,rev it a couple times and check.Even if it works on the first try,do it a couple more times. If this does not work, please reply back and I will get an auto link to see what you posted. Good luck! Greg
the gas has a air leakage valve on the manifold ,its a sort of valve and i have had this before ,its in the air intake pipe ,i removed the valve bit and put a small water pipe tap in so i could allow the gas in manually
If the engine revs up but the car does not move it is not going into drive. If you can push the car easily when in drive and not at all when it is in park. Then the shifter part is working. If you can not push when in drive check your linkage the cale/linkage may be broken or disconnected. If the pushing test was okay and you do not hear any banging noise when in gear trying to move. That would indicate a broken c.v. joint or axle. Then your problem is internally in the transmission and running out of gas had nothing to do with what happened just occured at the wrong time.
you need to clean or replace your idle air control valve(IAC). The IAC allows your engine to idle smoothly by opening and closing a valve that allows air flow to the engine that is monitored by the computer. The IAC get dirty causing it to stick and move slower than it should which causes the up and down idle
may have bad gas pedal sensor, or throtle body motor, thats only if you step on gas pedal and engine wont even rev up, if it rev then possible trany problems.
